Position Summary:

The Youth Team/School Liaison role for The Chaves County CASA Program is a full-time position responsible for the hands-on direct case management, advocacy and program facilitation for high risk youth. These youth are referred to CASA services by court, JPPO, CYFD, therapists, community members, school district or concerned parents. This position carries an emphasis of concentration of services including interventions and mediations at RISD. The Youth Team is expected to maintain a professional level of ethics and confidentiality at all times. The Youth Team is trauma-informed and ensures an exceptionally high quality of services and safety for those involved in the program

Advocacy

  • Collaborate with RISD to complete RAP assessments and follow-ups.
  • Perform mediations both scheduled and emergencies as needed with RISD.
  • Provide intervention and education with substance use. This includes social and emotional support and learning.
  • Support and participate in restorative circles at RISD.
  • Advocate diligently on behalf of youth.
  • Coordinate with parents and youth to ensure educational enrollment, support consistent attendance/participation and advocate academic achievement.
  • Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with service providers in the community relating to the youth and caregiver needs, provide support and advocacy to help ensure families have appropriate services to meet their needs.
  • Attend collaborative partnership, interagency, and school/district meetings as appropriate. Advocate for and support needed changes to community systems relating to youth and their caregivers/families.
  • Ensures that proper data collection and reporting are completed in a thorough and timely manner. Maintains client files on a daily basis as required by the program’s policies.
  • Must be able to communicate successfully with the youth, their parents and if applicable, JPPO’s to ensure needs are met.
  • Maintains strict standards of confidentiality.
  • Relay information as necessary between the youth and parents relevant to the child’s welfare.
  • Provide crisis intervention and make any necessary referrals to help the youth and their family. If rules are violated, provide feedback or correction to the relevant party.
  • Intervene when appropriate to ensure the safety and welfare of the youth.
  • Trained to handle de-escalation.
  • Be available for flexible scheduling seven days per week.
  • Help with transportation of youth as needed.
  • Attend all CASA staff meetings, training, and fundraisers as requested.

Education

Associates Degree in psychology, social work, counseling or related field or experience in the field of child advocacy preferred. High School Diploma/GED Required.

Licenses

Must possess a valid New Mexico driver's license. Proof of current insurance is required for any staff providing transportation to clients. If purporting to be a licensed Mental Health Professional, an active New Mexico license (or the ability to obtain one) is required.

Experience

Experience in the field of child advocacy is preferred but not required.

Train

  • Must complete the Court Appointed Special Advocate Training.
  • Must complete de-escalation and trauma informed training as directed by the Deputy Director.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28,080.00 - $35,000.00 per year
