Youth Programs Supervisor

North Valley Caring Services is a community center dedicated to serve and provide an array of services to homeless and low income individuals and families with programs such as a homeless breakfast and shower program, safe parking, food pantry, youth services, family support, meal outreach, Colectivo , and more. NVCS is looking to fill the part time position of Youth Programs Supervisor.

The goal of the program is to improve the quality of life and make a difference in the lives of the children under their direct care. Works with at risk youth, children experiencing homelessness, low income families. Works directly with the Youth Development Professionals and is responsible for facilitating programs including homework assistance, Character and Leadership, and Arts. Youth Development Professionals are responsible for encouraging student engagement and providing supervision, control over members, providing guidance, support and discipline when necessary.

Key Roles:

● Ensure a physically and emotionally safe environment for members at all times.

● Supervises small and large groups of youth.

● Plans, organizes and implements a range of program services and activities for members

● Provides activity reports, attendance reports and write ups to the management and communicates program progress as requested.

● Provides guidance and role modeling to members

● Promotes safety of members, quality in programs.

● Promotes and stimulates program participation

· Oversees and manages all enrollment, waivers, report cards, and forms needed to fulfill contract outcomes

· Works with and manages tutors, volunteers, and groups working with youth

• Create and develop new and current partnerships to bring more services to program

Skills/Knowledge

● Knowledge and/or experience with computers and technology

● Experience and/or ability to work with youth ages 5-17

● Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment

● Ability to motivate and deal effectively with members’ discipline problems

● Strong communication skills both with staff and members

● Ability to deal with general public (professionalism)

● Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth

● Knowledge of youth development

● Ability to multitask, effectively manage time and complete multiple projects

Qualifications:

● Bachelors Degree

● Minimum 6 ECE units.

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills; discretion in handling confidential information and ability to honor confidentiality and work sensitively and supportively with the public.

● Supervision of children and develop activities.

● Create a nurturing and stimulating environment.

● Meet the children's social, emotional and physical needs.

● Maintaining order/cleanliness in the facility.

● CPR certified

● Day Shift (Required)

Full Time-40hours per week

Schedule: M-F 10am-6:30pm

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
