Youth Outreach Specialist – East County

Your New Role:
This position works closely with the East Connect team to provide direct outreach to youth in coordination with other programs, other providers and community. Direct street outreach entails a combination of scheduled sites and ad hoc activities to respond to community need. Social media initiatives involve content generation, posting and sharing relevant program, agency and community information. The outreach specialist will also provide presentations and trainings on core services as well as issues facing youth and families, promising practices. Due to the overrepresentation of youth of color and LGBTQIA2S+ youth impacted by systemic barriers to accessing resources, this position centers culturally specific and responsive services for youth. The base location for this position is at our Youth Opportunity Center in East County, but will also be mobile in community.

Community-focused: Meeting youth where they’re at, meeting providers and partners around Multnomah County
Social: Building rapport and relationship with young people, providers and business partnerships
Skills & Attributes:
· Desire to work with multicultural staff and youth in diverse settings
· Excellent communication, organization, creativity, flexibility, optimism, positive humor and overall interpersonal skills.
· Organized and consistent with regards to meetings, coordination, and documentation
· Trauma-informed, harm reduction, and assertive engagement framework
· Ability to work on a multi-agency team that involves 5 other community based orgs and a relationship with Law Enforcement
Experience:
· Combination of work and lived personal experience related to houselessness –OR- A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related human services field
· Experience working with youth who face multiple barriers.
· Experience with harm reduction, crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
· A valid driver’s license and ability to obtain CPR certification
