The Mukwonago YMCA is seeking dedicated professionals committed to the betterment of their community. We provide a safe, healthy environment rich with opportunities for youth to grow and thrive. The ideal candidate for this position will have a passion for youth and will help us promote the core YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through the creation and facilitation of engaging enrichment programming. The After School Site Staff will work directly with the Site Supervisor to implement lesson plans and engage with students in a local Mukwonago, East Troy, and Washington-Caldwell elementary schools during the 2019-2020 school year. Program hours are 6:15-8:45 AM and 3:15-6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. This is a part-time, school year position requiring approximately 12-15 hours per week.
- Create an energetic, engaging before and after school environment for elementary students.
- Facilitate lesson plans that reflect the interests and abilities of children and include activities and events that promote learning and social skills.
- Create a welcoming environment for all students and families in Y BASE program.
- Ensure licensing compliance with Wisconsin DCF 251.
- Enforce rules and consequences on a fair and consistent basis while maintaining a high level of ethical behavior.
- Effectively communicate with parents, District Staff, and YMCA staff.
- Ensure Y BASE sites are clean, neat, organized and safe and eliminate or identify any risks that could cause accidents or incidents.
- Have complete knowledge of emergency procedures appropriate for the individual site to ensure the safety of the children and staff.
- Attend all staff meetings and training sessions.
- Follow and maintain policies as outlined in the Y BASE program manuals and the YMCA Employee Handbook.
- Uphold and exemplify the principles of the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County.
Experience and Skills
- Candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with school age children and currently working towards a degree in a related field. Bachelor’s Degree in education, recreation or a related field is preferred.
- Have a sincere interest in and an ability to comprehend needs and develop positive outcomes in children.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Current certification in CPR/AED and First Aid or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire is required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
