Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster - Indiana Claims
CompOne Administrators, Inc. is currently looking for an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster to handle Indiana claims. The Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster is responsible for investigating, evaluating, organizing, and settling the most complex claims and highest exposures with minimal supervision for Indiana claims. The Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster must be able to work independently, be solutions-oriented, and provide the highest quality customer service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow CompOne Administrator’s best practices and client specific instructions for claim handling
- Investigate complex and lost time workers’ compensation claims
- Determine compensability and subrogation potential
- Authorize medical treatment, hospitalization, and surgery
- Approve and coordinate payment of medical bills, indemnity benefits, and death benefits
- Accurately assess claim to set and continually monitor appropriate reserves
- Comply with excess insurance carrier reporting
- Maintain claim file documentation with details of claim
- Interact frequently with client, claimant, providers, and others as needed
- Develop and communicate detailed action plans for moving case to conclusion
- Prepare and present claim summary reports
- Attend claim review meetings
- Communicate and collaborate with client to manage claim
- Explain workers’ compensation benefits to clients and employees
- Assign and manage legal counsel and vendors as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Travel to meetings approximately 5% or as needed
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- At least 5 years of demonstrated experience handling workers’ compensation claims in the state of Indiana
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Michigan Workers’ Disability Compensation Act and other applicable laws, procedures, and regulations
- Knowledge of medical and technical terminology used in workers’ compensation claims
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Understanding of self-insured clients and third party administration of claims
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain rules, policies, and benefits
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Detail oriented
- Proper use of judgement and decision making
- Perform proactively and creatively to drive the best outcomes
