In your role as a member of the Pre-Need Family Service team, you are employed by Park Lawn to sell products and services in advance of need (pre-need) consisting of cemetery property, merchandise and services, and pre-arranged funerals. The goal of your position is to generate additional pre-need business through the sale of cemetery property and funeral arrangements.
To be clear, this is a commission-based position and your ability to sell goods and services is essential to your success.
In accepting a position on the Family Service team, it is important that you understand that Park Lawn has the following expectations regarding your performance:
- Sell cemetery services and products beyond the immediate at-need service
- Listen attentively to the needs of families and designing the appropriate service of product offerings tailored to their needs, taking care to present every option every time
- Conduct effective and productive individual and group presentations
- Escort families and help them select the right cemetery property for their needs
- Facilitate workable solutions to any client family complaints or concerns
- At all times use your best efforts to preserve and promote the goodwill of Park Lawn and the location(s) you are representing
- Conduct yourself in a manner consistent with Park Lawn’s reputation for honesty, integrity and professional service to the families and communities we serve
- Strict adherence to all of Park Lawn’s policies and procedures
- Attend and actively participate in all scheduled sales meetings
- Maintain a valid driver’s license, clear driving record and liability insurance on any personal vehicle that you may use when carrying out your duties
- Possess and maintain in good standing any licenses that may be needed for your position
- Consistently meet and exceed the sales production requirements for your position and location.

During your training period you will be expected to:
- Become familiar with industry terminology.
- Learn and demonstrate our required prospecting and selling techniques.
- Learn and present any standardized presentation(s).
- Learn how to prepare sales agreements.
- Review and understand the laws applicable to our industry.
- Become familiar with the product inventory.
- Learn and demonstrate compliance with our reporting, accounting and operating procedures.
- Apply skills learned by serving families, soliciting referrals and selling pre-needs
The training period, which typically begins on a Monday, lasts three (3) weeks or 120 hours of classroom and field training. During this period, you will be paid the established training rate of pay for all hours worked. You will also be eligible for overtime for any hours worked in excess of 40 within any pay week. However, it should be noted that training time is typically scheduled in a manner where no overtime is worked.
During your training period, you will also be eligible to receive advanced commissions on any personal sale(s) you may make. All advanced commissions, including those that may result from sales made during the initial training period, are subject to reserve withholding.
Your training pay is not considered a draw and does not impact your reserve account.
