Summary:
Performs welding and fitting skills in the repair of barges and vessels.
This is an entry level welding position. Responsible for welding and fitting various patches on company owned / operated floating equipment. Performs above and below water repairs on floating equipment.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Performs welding and fitting skills in the repair of barges and vessels
- Assists with construction / repair of special projects
- Assists in performing preventative and routine maintenance on equipment and machinery.
- Assists in performing safety audits / inspections of work area.
- Cutout and replaces sections of damaged steel
- Gouge, weld fractures, fit formed plates and structural's
- Conducts confined space atmospheric tests
- Participation in all safety meetings.
Educational Requirements:
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Specific Skills and Abilities:
Competent Persons Training, CPR Training, ABS Welding Certificate, Fitting steel for repairs, inspect barges and determine type of repairs needed.
- Must be able to understand written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to weld with stick fed welders.
- Ability to perform job tasks as assigned by foreman / supervisor.
