Job Overview:

The Weld Cell Floor Lead is responsible for the hour to hour running of a designated group of Welders within the production facility. The Weld Cell Floor Lead will be responsible, with minimal guidance, for the reallocation of resources on an ongoing basis to maximize scheduling to meet demand. The Weld Cell Lead position is the first step taken on a career path toward supervision


Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure quality expectations, operational procedures, and high standards of workmanship are maintained by self and assigned work area(s).
  • Resolve machinery and quality problems in assigned work area(s).
  • Monitors changeovers, productivity, and scrap.
  • Conducts or coordinates all levels of production training to ensure employees can safely and effectively operate machinery and perform day to day functions.
  • Supervise production maintenance schedules.
  • Oversees work area and people to ensure consistent compliance with all local and Company safety rules as well as any regulatory standards.
  • Perform basic, routine tasks related to the leadership and oversight of employees in assigned work area(s), including but not limited to responding to basic employee inquiries, reviewing, and approving timecards and time off requests, writing and conducting performance evaluations, and initiating verbal coaching and initial written reminder level corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure employee compliance with federal and state law as well as Company policies and procedures

Knowledge/Skills:


  • Experience in the weld area or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Mig/Tig steel and aluminum welding, and applications of all these welds is preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand weld prints a must.
  • Track record of excellent safety, quality, as well as a being a self-starter.
  • Lean manufacturing training/experience is a huge plus.
  • Inventory management training/experience is a huge plus.
  • Ability to perform simple calculations and follow written instructions.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment both independently and within a team.
  • Record and maintain accurate records with attention to detail in AX.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • 4 Years Experience welding MIG & TIG Steel & Aluminum


Work Environment:

This position is required to work in a job shop/manufacturing environment. The incumbent will be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts frequently. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
