40 hours per week

Overview
This position will be responsible for coordinating the DRC’s Walk About Yakima (WAY) program, a program aimed at reducing gang-related gun violence in Yakima County, by providing direct intervention to individuals who are most vulnerable to being killed or incarcerated due to gun violence and gang activity. The WAY Administrative Coordinator will be based out of our Yakima office. The DRC offers a competitive wage, along with a full benefits package.
Purpose of the Position
The WAY Administrative Coordinator (AC) is responsible for creating and managing relationships with law enforcement agencies, corrections, public health systems, and all community partners, as specified by the WAY Leadership team. The Administrative Coordinator works with the WAY leadership team to represent the WAY program to community and systems partners; for this reason, the WAY AC must model restorative practice and conflict management skills in every interaction. Duties include, but are not limited to: coordinating with the Yakima Police Department (YPD) gang unit, YPD data analysts, YPD leadership when appropriate, and other YPD partners; coordinating with Juvenile Court, state juvenile systems and corrections partners; coordinating with state-wide sister organizations with similar missions; collaborating with the WAY Program Manager to communicate and coordinate with community and system partners; assisting the WAY Leadership team with identifying community resources (such as locations for activities); and other tasks necessary to move the WAY program forward. The WAY AC is the program’s secretary, data collector, and point of contact with granting organizations.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Model the core values, principles, procedures and policies of the DRC and the WAY program to program participants and community partners.
- Represent the DRC and WAY program with integrity and professionalism to system partners, community partners, community members, and program stakeholders.
- As key member of the WAY program leadership team to community and systems partners, model effective restorative practices and conflict management skills in all interactions with systems partners.
- Lead the custom notification process, coordinating with law enforcement partners, to plan and execute custom notifications. This could include training Credible Messengers to effectively execute custom notifications.
- Lead the relocation process, coordinating with partners to plan and execute program participant relocations. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating with law enforcement, corrections and/or mentors in other counties
- As a member of the WAY leadership team, attend weekly leadership team meetings, as well as weekly caseload, and DRC staff meetings
- As a member of the WAY leadership team, help to find and address problems that appear in the execution of the WAY program, from the perspective of community impact and impact on systems relationships
- Attend court, program-participant circle, events, and other activities involving program participants as considered necessary by leadership team
- When YPD data is not available, work with YPD designees, Juvenile Probation and Court, the DRC Executive Director, and WAY Program Manager to find candidates for custom notification
- Coordinate with systems partners, both private and public, to further the WAY program and advocate for WAY program participants. Partners include the YPD, Juvenile court, the GRIT system, public health partners, local agencies, the faith community, and other community partners as named by the WAY leadership team
- Coordinate with the Executive Director to vet all press and public activities related to the WAY program
- Coordinate with grant partners, including the University of Washington and all future grant partners that contribute to the operations of the WAY program
- Collaborate with Program Manager to plan and coordinate meetings and services involving program participants with YPD Gang Unit, Juvenile Court, and system partners.
- Alert DRC Executive Director immediately in case of emergency, no matter how small
- Refer program participants to staff on-call immediately when contacted outside scheduled hours
- Communicate necessary information to WAY team and community partners in regular meetings or via email as appropriate
- Keep yourself, program participants, community partners, and others safe by using your best judgement and following program procedures and policies
- Coordinate with WAY program volunteers as necessary to meet with, transport, or otherwise serve program participants as needs arise
- Work in collaboration with the Executive Director to increase WAY program revenue through contract creation/maintenance, grant-seeking and development, donor development, local program development, and/or maintenance
- Build cross-sector partnerships across diverse racial, ethnic, income, ability, and gender communities targeted at gang violence prevention and intervention
- Develop and execute, in coordination with WAY program partners, ongoing training, evaluation, and budget, including regular trainings, custom trainings, and for onboarding new staff
- Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, tracking relevant program data, training activities, and other program-related activities
- Together with the WAY and DRC leadership teams, seek, write, and complete grant applications and complete reports for compliance with granting agencies
- Maintain a quality assurance program for WAY program trainings and expansion
- Assist with other duties as specified by the WAY Program Manager and the DRC Executive Director
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or relevant combination of experience, knowledge, and education
- Demonstrated success with and knowledge of data management tools-Microsoft products, (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook), and case management software
- Demonstrated ability to work with communities of diverse gender, race, ethnicity, social class, ability, and sexual orientation with an equity orientation
- Demonstrated excellence in collaboration with diverse teams across sectors, including government, business, non-profit, and industry partners
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff, volunteers, and community
- Demonstrated excellence and experience in written and oral presentations
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with staff, volunteers, system partners, and community
- Ability to manage your time effectively

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field
- Demonstrated success in grant writing and management
- Training in Basic Mediation and experience mediating
- Experience utilizing effective assessment measures
- Bi-lingual or proficient with Spanish language skills
Pay range: $18-$24/hr, 40 hours a week, depending on qualifications
