Role
Higher Ground is bringing on a Warehouse Manager to our Hitchcock, TX location to be a part of the growth of our global operations. In the world of Montessori education physical learning materials are everything, this role plays a critical role the execution of our mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, that has 10 employees that are processing, receiving, kitting, and packing for execution to our campuses and other business partners.
  • Communicate priorities, timelines, and processes clearly to the team and hold them accountable to meeting quality, expectations, and deadlines.
  • Take pride in maintaining an orderly, structured environment within the warehouse, including creating a culture of excellence within the team towards the constant upkeep of the space. Maintain accurate inventory counts using our Inventory Management System.
  • Analyze weekly and monthly P&L statement to determine account profitability, and provide financial data and weekly operations report to senior management
  • Manage the performance of salaried employees as well as hourly paid employees under his/her responsibility, resolve performance issues, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with senior management, Supply Chain Manager, Procurement and the Set-up Teams to forecast and plan for the flow of materials in and out of the warehouse, with an eye towards ensuring that the right materials reach our schools at the right time.
  • Executes operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Implements best practice warehouse design by planning layout to optimize space, product flow and product handling systems to maximize productivity.
  • Ensures products and supply stocks are distributed and received in an efficient manner in an effort to eliminate shortages, down time, delay in start-ups times and inventory changeovers.
  • Directly manage the warehouse staff, including area leads as well as part-time and full-time staff within each area.
  • Develop the warehouse area leads to take on full ownership of their sub-domain within the warehouse, modeling and supporting clear communication and hand-off protocols.
  • Controls costs through productivity of team, efficient utilization of storage space, and proper protection of stored materials and supplies.
  • Leads projects and assesses fulfillment results to improve warehouse practices.
  • Maintain records of inventories and location for production control and cost accounting.
  • Overseas all warehouse departmental expenses related to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
  • Meets warehouse operations by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, and scheduling expenditures.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements.
  • Builds and maintains warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training team members with the evolving needs of the warehouse.
  • Owns staff performance by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Identify process bottlenecks and implement solutions in a timely manner.
  • Builds and promotes team environment and works collaboratively to achieve team goals.
  • Leads by example to actively promote ethical business behavior and organizational values and adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years or more in the management of warehouse and/or transportation operations required
  • Successful track record of building and managing effective teams
  • Strong leadership and motivating skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills
  • Demonstrates analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize, structure and schedule tasks to maximize effort and meet deadlines
  • Experience with inventory management systems and quarterly inventory counts
  • Experience with system implementation a plus
  • Must be computer literate and able to use the Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Excel & Word required)
  • A combination of other education and experiences will be considered
