Overview:
As a W&I Field Inspector, you would be responsible for administering and supervising Weight & Inspection (W&I) Program activities in the Service Center throughout the region assigned. Ensure proper weights and descriptions are applied on shipments to gain revenue which would otherwise be lost due to understatement of weight or incorrect description of commodities. Monitor the activities of the Service Center W&I Inspectors and the Freight Handlers in Service Center in assigned region.

Responsibilities:
Provide coverage for Service Center W&I Inspectors while they are on vacation Adjust commodity descriptions and weights as necessary on shipment, and gathers data to support corrections. Train Service Center inspectors on proper inspection techniques and adjustment procedures for shipments reviewed under the W&I Program. Monitor accuracy of W&I administrative Process in assigned Service Center. Monitor productivity and accuracy of platform and forklift scales. Assist shippers/receivers on the proper classification of their commodities.Interact with the Traffic Department on a daily basis to review W&I corrections with auditors and check pricing.Interact with Service Center inspectors daily to discuss corrections, review National Motor Carrier Freight Classification usage, and preview program progress. Work with Service Center Managers weekly to review the W&I Program progress and discuss ways to enhance participation in the program.

Qualifications:
For this role, you will need to have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid Driver’s License with a clean motor vehicle report; at least 2 years of general Service Center/terminal operations experience as well as at least 3 years of experience as a rate clerk and/or Service Center/terminal W&I Inspector.
