JOB TITLE: VRT Manager DATE: 12/2022
REPORTS TO: Sales & Logistics Manager STATUS: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:
Directs and coordinates the operations of the VRT and finished product palletizing area. Directs and leads the team for the efficient and safe management of all aspects of the VRT and Brenton equipment to meet customer needs, and follow standards related to quality assurance, cost, and waste management. Works closely and lead department functions with key partners in production, cost accounting, purchasing maintenance, safety, and other operations. Ensures that all procedures and policies are followed by staff and implement process improvements when identified.
DIMENSIONS: WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Stand/Walk majority of day.
Support of each shift, and availability as needed to be onsite in after hours and weekends dependent business need.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Leads the department to ensure VRT and palletizing area of the plant meets all quality assurance, production, processing, and customer requirements.
- Responsible for hiring, supervision, training, coaching, and evaluating performance across all shifts to maximize employee engagement and performance.
- Oversee direct performance of supervisors and support growth of operators in department.
- Oversee and assist all shifts of VRT operations with daily operation of poultry chilling and palletizing.
- Ensure the implementation of all company safety procedures, including job cross training, ergonomics, and follow all OSHA regulatory requirements.
- Work with the Quality Assurance department to ensure a safe and sanitary environment within specifications and USDA requirements.
- Establish and adjust procedures to be cost aware and consistent to meet production schedules and efficiencies with quality, accuracy, and performance standards.
- Maximize yields and throughputs by providing clear direction while minimizing downtime, incidents and turnover through employee engagement and team building.
- Plan and implement process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with established food safety programs, including HACCP programs, SSOPs and GMPs.
- Instill a culture in teams related to compliance with company policy and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ensure proper scheduled maintenance is being performed and upkeep of equipment.
- Attend meetings and trainings as required.
- All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or related experience.
- Minimum of five years related experience in manufacturing environment preferred, including previous supervisory experience.
- Experience with related blast chill freezer equipment preferred.
