Tri-County Community Action Agency, Inc. (TCCAA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated for over 50 years to making a positive difference in the lives of those experiencing hardships. The agency consists of multiple programs that are created to empower people in Halifax, Charlotte and Mecklenburg Counties of Southside Virginia. Through collaborative efforts, engaged staff and partnerships, Tri-County is able to further our mission to eliminate the violence of poverty through advocacy, empowerment and self-sufficiency.
What We Are Looking For:
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Site volunteer will assist and prepare income taxes in Halifax County, Chase City, and Charlotte Courthouse communities.
What You Will Do:
- Screen taxpayers to determine the type of assistance needed and confirm they have the necessary documents to complete their tax returns.
- Assist taxpayers in completing the tax forms.
- Prepare the tax return using the electronic filing software.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What We Are Seeking:
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Be able to pass the VITA Basic or Advance Tax Law Training online course and obtain certification.
- Must be available to work flexible hours. A minimum of three hours per week on Friday and Saturday mornings.
- Must be able to provide valid identification and proof of current address.
