Network Runners is seeking a Voice Engineer. The Voice Engineer will support Headquarters Air Mobility Command HQ AMC/A6 at Scott AFB, IL. providing voice and network engineering, design, and lifecycle support of command and control (C2) infrastructure; ability to evaluate, integrate and implement systems and network components based on compliance with DoD/AF instructions and guidance consistent with emerging technology and compliance with governing regulations and best industry practices. Specific task activities include those identified below :

Position Description:
Network Runners is seeking a Voice Engineer. The Voice Engineer will support Headquarters Air Mobility Command HQ AMC/A6 at Scott AFB, IL. providing voice and network engineering, design, and lifecycle support of command and control (C2) infrastructure; ability to evaluate, integrate and implement systems and network components based on compliance with DoD/AF instructions and guidance consistent with emerging technology and compliance with governing regulations and best industry practices. Specific task activities include those identified below :
Responsibilities:
- Base Cable Infrastructure - Review base cable infrastructures including buried cable (outside plant), method of burial, type of cable, type of splices used, interval of splices, and maintenance loops.
- LAN Infrastructure - Evaluate the design, engineering, installation and testing of LANs, other prevalent networks, existing patch panels, bandwidth, and inside and outside plant (copper and fiber) distribution systems and knowledge of the new standardization effort of all AF networks (NetLaw and BANFS) to configure and standardize networks within AMC appropriated facilities, TWCF facilities, and Enroute locations.
- Equipment Evaluation - Evaluate equipment components for functionality, interoperability, and integration with facility infrastructure to ensure compliance with DoD/AF instructions and be able to identify opportunities to replace or migrate to commercial-off-the-shelf COTS products and practices as appropriate.
- Long Haul Interconnects - Evaluate existing, planned long-haul network trunking, and long-haul lease support to recommend optimal configuration to most effective and efficient utilization of network resources.
- Power Systems - Evaluate identify, and document changes regarding power for telecommunications and integrated data and video components/systems; evaluate the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) sizing and capabilities to support existing and future requirements.
- Equipment Integration - Analyze existing equipment to ensure the comprehensive interoperability and integration of hubs, routers, bridges, FM/UHF/VHF/HF radio systems, print servers, associated LANs, microwave systems, telephone switches, and other equipment identified at AMC sites as components of the base telecommunications infrastructure. This includes new technology associated with Unified Communication (UC), transition to Everything over IP (EoIP), and compliance with NetLaw.
- Life Cycle Support – Analyze factors related to systems and develop life -cycle support plans. Factors required for plan development are Visibility of System Components, Maintenance support and Cost Analysis. Analyze life span of components and compare to expected lifespan for overall systems, analyze maintenance and training requirements throughout life cycle along with develop, compare, and forecast of all costs associated with system(s) support.
- Site Surveys – Required to provide technical assistance and recommendations, assist in the development of the Project Support Agreement (PSA) identifying site locations for equipment, civil engineer and communications support requirements and perform the quality assurance checklists.
- Voice Carrier Grade Telephony Systems including new systems and technology to implement Unified Communications, and associated supporting infrastructure
- VoIP system design (Secure and Non-Secure)
- Converged networks from design to implementation
- Uninterruptible Power Supplies to include battery/inverter/rectifier plants for telephony and data systems and management systems
- Outside Plant infrastructure to include manhole/duct design
- Inside Plant infrastructure to include frame rooms
- Fiber Optic and Copper Cable Outside Plant design
- Optical Network Equipment
- Defense Red Switching Network (DRSN) Classified Voice Systems
- Inside Plant (ISP), Building Wiring
- BICSI Standards
- UC Technology and Equipment
- IP Technologies to include IPv6
