Precise is looking for a Vice President of People and Culture (VP/P&C) to direct, organize, plan, and develop the implementation and administration of human resources functions and to carry out policies and procedures relating to all phases of human resources activities. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the VP/P&C oversees all company human resources activities including recruiting, performance management, pay and benefits administration, and policy development. The VP/P&C will oversee activities relating to personnel rules and regulations, staffing, employee education and training, management development, labor relations, affirmative action, and workers compensation administration. The VP/P&C will also serve as the company’s chief people person, responsible for promoting the company’s intentional culture of support, connection, and collaboration. This role will serve as a key advisor to company management in identifying, evaluating, and resolving human relations and work performance problems within the company to facilitate communication and improve employee human relations skills and work performance.

Prior experience at a government contractor company is required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts wage surveys within labor market and leads the development of complete compensation plan and rates for the company.
  • Directs new employee orientation to foster understanding of company policies and procedures and buy-in to company mission and core values.
  • Oversees company recruitment operations including recruiting, interviewing, and selection of candidates to fill vacant positions.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the company’s human resources information system vendor (i.e., Paychex) and manages related human resources reporting.
  • Maintains records of insurance coverage, pension plan, and personnel transactions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
  • Directs the company’s monthly employee check-in process, ensuring all managers complete monthly check-ins with their employees and reporting related employee engagement metrics to the company’s senior management.
  • Leads the company’s efforts to achieve “best place to work” status.
  • Investigates problems incidental to sound and uniform personnel administration, such as working conditions, disciplinary actions, and employee and applicant appeals and grievances.
  • Provides guidance and recommendations for personnel problem resolution.
  • Recommends and implements procedures to reduce employee turnover.
  • Evaluates human relations and work-related problems and meets with supervisors, managers, and executives to determine effective remediation techniques, such as job skill training or personal intervention, to resolve performance and human relations issues among personnel.
  • Responsible for training to instruct establishment managers, supervisors, and workers in human relation skills, such as supervisory skills, conflict resolution skills, interpersonal communication skills, and effective group interaction skills.
  • Delivers supervisor training to new Precise supervisors and annual supervisor refresher trainings for all existing Precise supervisors.
  • Approves individuals for technical job-related skills training to improve individual work performance.
  • Prepares budget of human resources operations.
  • Oversees benefits management (incl. employee enrollment and termination of health and other benefits, 401K, administration of H1B work authorizations, etc.)

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field desirable, or equivalent number of years of experience managing human resources.
  • 6-10 years of experience managing human resources functions for a small to mid-sized company, including experience supervising support staff.
  • Large company experience a plus
  • Demonstrated clear written and verbal communication and attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Internal and external customer focus, conveying Precise’s core values with amicability and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated sense of integrity, as Precise holds itself to the highest ethical standards as a routine business practice.
  • Federal government contracting company experience is required.
  • M&A experience a plus
