PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position is the senior Operations leader at Warren Rupp Inc, a high performing business unit within the Fluid and Metering Technologies (FMT) business segment of IDEX Corporation. This position is focused on leading a highly engaged and empowered team supporting top business priorities while sustaining key performance indicators throughout operations. The Vice President of Operations will be responsible for the overall strategic planning and execution of the operations/manufacturing processes, supply chain, materials management, and warehousing operations. Primary objectives of the role will be to drive growth, increase the productivity funnel, as well as promote simplification and speed throughout the organization. The Vice President of Operations and the department, will be driven by Warren Rupp’s core values of the Trust, Teamwork, and Excellence, be innovative in their thinking, have the ability to see around corners and take risks, as well as achieve results through growth initiatives.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct leader of Operations Manager, Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager, Supply Chain Director, and EHS Manager

Effectively collaborate cross functionally with a focus on aligning the operational strategy to support business priorities
-
Cascade business goals to Operations team to ensure top priorities are successfully supported while driving their respective development
-
Drive improvements in production quality, operating cost reduction, and manufacturing lead times
-
Develop and apply consistent manufacturing practices and standards
-
Use process flow diagrams and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to analyze and manage workflow
-
Initiate, drive, and participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities
-
Utilize and be proficient in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies
-
Oversight for safety and performance objectives through modernization for equipment, fixtures, and tools
-
Communicate with executive management and make presentations to high-level clients on technical and organizational capabilities
-
Work closely with materials management, QA, and suppliers to ensure that purchased material meets standards and specifications
-
Oversee the facility management
-
Ensure factory layout and equipment locations are optimized for material flow and manufacturing efficiency
-
Oversee warehouse and materials staffing optimization, including proactively forecasting staffing needs ahead of our needs and intelligently allocating labor across teams by day
-
Maintain strong communication path with commercial team ensuring cross functional knowledge transfer allowing to execute and drive best support plan for global customers

View operations and the business overall through an 8020 lens to recognize opportunity to reduce complexity and cost as well as reallocating resources to what is most important to focus on.

Provide guidance and input to ensure appropriate inventory levels to minimize lead times and exceed OTD of 95% to external customers

Coordinate production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment

Work with Finance to establish cost standards, and budgeting for manufacturing capital and expense spending

Oversee departmental budgets and expenditures

Provide recommendations to help guide product and systems development for manufacturability
-
Recommend design solutions and changes
-
Work with Engineering R&D to manufacture new products or improve current products and processes that meet quality and cost effectiveness standards

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION LEVEL, SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

The position requires a bachelor’s degree (preferably Engineering, Business or Industrial Technology) with an MBA preferred.

Minimum of 10+ years’ experience of management experience in an operations leadership and/or factory management role. The successful candidate must have a proven track record, demonstrated by a progressive level of growth in responsibility.

This person will have extensive demonstrated success in the application of Lean principles, Six Sigma, Kaizen, JIT in an industrial environment.
