Position Summary
This highly collaborative, passionate, forward-thinking leader is responsible for Light & Wonder’s (L&W) Corporate Communications helping to grow and evolve our unique, and dynamic business as the leading cross-platform global game company.
The Vice President, Corporate Communications is a key strategic leader responsible for the development, integration, implementation, and oversight of large-scale internal and external communication strategies to drive the business with investors, customers, players, potential talent and engage our Creators (L&W’s internal teams). The Vice President, Corporate Communications will have a background leading multi-national, national, and local communication efforts and building creative executions that resonate with key audiences, including unique player profiles. S/he will be a creative at heart, while understanding how to interpret data and allow data to best inform how our executions evolve to higher performance levels.
Reporting to the Sr. Vice President, Corporate Marketing & Communications, the Vice President works cross functionally with all business unit leads, the CEO, executive team, Finance/Investor Relations, and Human Resources to provide strategic communication counsel, elevate the stature of the company, promote our new business wins, and lead internal communications that inform, inspire, and build team cohesion. This leader is also responsible for developing and managing a team of internal and external communication professionals who are responsible for positioning, messaging, and execution of the L&W’s narrative. He/she will also be the primary point-of-contact with the PR Agency and other relevant external resources, as needed.

The ideal candidate will have experience creating strategies and narratives that positively position our Company, influences our industry, and enhance the experience for L&W Creators (our internal teams) and to external parties.
This executive will provide coaching and talking points to relevant managers on media inquiries, as well as work with marketing and branding professionals within the company to help shape communications. He/she will be the point person in a rapid-response team should the communication need arise, and will ensure proactive, positive messaging regarding the organization.
Qualifications
Essential Job Functions

Work closely with leadership to develop and execute integrated global corporate communications strategies – including key performance metrics - that will successfully reinforce the company’s business objectives.

Collaborate productively with other departments - Investor Relations (e.g., Earnings), Tradeshow/Events (e.g., G2E), CSR (Responsible Gaming, Charitable Giving, DEI). - to deliver consistent, aligned, and impactful communications efforts, including the positioning, messaging, and execution of communications for key audiences, Investors, Customers, Players, and others.

Advance the L&W winning messaging strategy around our unique position to win as the leading cross-platform global game company. Ensure strong messaging control: speaking with one voice, consistently, while maintaining a distinct brand voice

Build media relations, outreach, and targeting. Identify media opportunities, build strong relationships with media/journalists/bloggers, influencers, and advance comms tools: Media Calendar, Media Contact List, Media Monitoring to secure positive press coverage.

Develop media relations plan, balancing company objectives and internal/external satisfaction and manage pitching and incoming press inquiries.

Identify/utilize best mix of communications channels, taking a proactive vs. reactive approach to our messaging

Support and build a high-performance, winning culture with a communications strategy & executions that supports L&W’s Purpose, People, and Products.

Write, edit, and distribute branded clear and concise and engaging communications across multiple internal and external audiences that brings our unique mission, culture, and values to life through various formats and channels including email and video.

Establish, monitor, and report Corporate Communications quarterly, key performance indicators (KPIs).

Manage master communication calendar for coordination and consistency of multiple media opportunities and projects and report progress to key stakeholders.

Leverage innovative and emerging technology channels to ensure L&W stays at the forefront of the communication needs of our audiences.

Organize, oversee, and develop talking points for press and speaking appearances by executive team.

Act as official company spokesperson.

Executive Produce the quarterly L&W Creators’ Town Hall.

Manage crisis communications and reputational issues as needed.

Oversee development of press coverage reports and distribution of news clips to Creators.
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, or Political Science. Master’s degree preferred.
Required Experience
-
15+ years of relevant experience, including corporate communications with a proven track record of delivering impactful external and internal communications, including positioning and message development, communications planning, segmentation, and measurement.

Significant experience in positively handling high-profile communications issues, demonstrating sound judgment and persuasive counseling to senior management.

Exceptional writing and editing skills and are comfortable conceiving, writing, editing messaging in a variety of formats. This includes materials such as speeches, scripts, op-eds, news articles, books, digital content, or other strategic messaging documents.
Preferred Experience

Previous experience in games, real-money and/or free-to-play

Marketing and branding experience

Strong record of nurturing positive relationships with senior editors and reporters of domestic and international news organizations and be able to develop and nurture relationships with front-line and senior management.

Previous experience in political campaign communications and/or in a public information role
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Strong track-record in conceiving and leading corporate communications strategies, executions, and processes – both external and internal.

Has managed a process of receiving and incorporating stakeholder feedback; is comfortable with an iterative process throughout the organization.

Keen business acumen including knowledge of Financial Reporting, Corporate Communications, Brand Marketing, Publicity, Promotion, and Public Relations.
