POSITION DESCRIPTION: Awen is searching for an Vice President of Architecture & Facilities Services to join our Senior Leadership Team and lead the timely and quality delivery of products and supportive services within the Facilities Services business line. The Vice President of Facilities Services will report directly to the Executive Vice President of Delivery and will be responsible for the leadership and management of nationally dispersed and client-centered Teams of subject matter experts charged with providing real estate supportive services, facilities and master planning, and environmental compliance and safety, and cost estimating in support of federal, state, and local government organizations.
The Vice President of Facilities Services primary responsibilities are outlined below:
- As a strategist, trusted advisor, and strategic implementer, the incumbent will create, lead, and be responsible for performance and delivery of obligations across Awen’s Facilities Services business line.
- As a leader and supervisor, the incumbent will directly supervise two Directors – Real Estate & Environmental and Facilities Planning – and serve as a mentor and thought partner to ensure high performance and quality.
- Provides strategic thinking and direct program oversight to define, refine and continuously enhance the execution and compliance strategies for each Facilities Services’ project, in alignment with client expectations and contractual obligations.
- In partnership with the Executive Vice President of Delivery, establishes and maintains a standard of quality, along with defined program/project management processes to ensure each project is delivering standardized, quality supportive services to our clients.
- Supports the development and leads Awen’s on-site and remote presence and engagement with local clients and external stakeholders across each Facilities Services’ project, including the establishment and ongoing facilitation of client touch-points, tracking and monitoring of performance and progress, and communication and reporting to Awen Leadership.
- Oversees the development of project-specific plans, integrated schedules, environmental site assessments, environmental studies and analyses, real property instruments, compliance audits, and other standardized artifacts to guide the delivery of every project within scope, schedule, budget, and quality, across the Facilities Services business line.
- In coordination with other Vice Presidents, leads the development of an effective leadership model to ensure Awen staff are receiving required technical training, mentoring, and coaching, culminating in the establishment of centers of excellence across internal disciplines including, but not limited to Environmental Compliance, Real Estate Transactions, and Facilities Planning.
- Responsible for working with the Finance Team and the Executive Vice President of Delivery to ensure accurate financial and fiscal management of all active Facilities Services’ contracts, the forecasting of revenue, profits, and losses, and the development of annual budgets for each Team.
- Works with Facilities Services’ Directors and staff, as well as Human Resources to recruit, interview, hire, promote, and train staff to ensure successful delivery of products and services for each project within Facilities Services.
- Maintains recurring touch-points with Executive Leadership and business line leaders and staff to relay Facilities Services’ updates, key policies & guidance, and progress against established goals.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable industry and legal regulations and best practices, including but not limited to National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) and National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), as well as adherence with Awen’s policies, processes, and procedures across the Facilities Services’ business line.
POSITION DETAILS:
- Compensation: $135,000.00 - $150,000.00, subject to experience
- Location: Woodbridge, VA
- Remote Position: Yes, subject to circumstance & negotiation
- Travel Required: Yes, expected to travel up to 15% of the time for this position

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:
- Commitment to Awen’s missions, vision, and values.
- Experience, as a supervisor or manager, in establishing, leading, and successfully completing large programs/projects that lead to measurable results.
- Experience leading and supervising high-performing, interdisciplinary delivery and project management teams, on-site and remotely.
- Demonstrated knowledge of or experience in real estate and real property, setting and achieving departmental objectives, facilities planning, environmental and historic compliance, people management, specifically mentoring, coaching, and performance management.
- Experience working in facilities planning, portfolio/program/project management, environmental compliance and safety, and/or real estate industries.
