Position Summary
The Vice President of Data Science will be responsible for advancing Healthmap’s advanced analytics, machine learning (ML) models and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in its mission to improve the health and reduce costs for the kidney disease population. This individual will lead and grow the team that enhances and adds to our existing predictive models identifying kidney patients at risk. In addition, the Data Sciences team will use data to identify opportunities to optimize the operational effectiveness of our Kidney Health Management program. In addition to AI/ML, this role will lead the very critical reporting function within Healthmap supporting Operations, Product, Account Management, Clinical and Sales through data research, analytics, visualization, and modeling. This individual will develop benchmarks for Data Science individuals to ensure analyses are completed on time and accurately. The Vice President will be tasked with day-to-day concerns and require agility for quick and/or changing deadlines. The individual in this role will review data findings and offer constructive criticism to guide individual employees towards success and be responsible for motivating team members and dissolving barriers to advancement. The Vice President, like all Data Science teammates, is expected to have personal experience with data analytics. This individual is to have a thorough and current understanding of client data to successfully guide the team.

Responsibilities
  • Leads and motivates team towards delivering strategic department goals
  • Works with leadership to properly implement strategic projects across the organization
  • Determines metrics to measure and evaluate individual and team performance
  • Fosters an environment of intellectual curiosity and will be responsible for mentoring analysts towards constant improvement
  • Performs functions related to problem definition, data collection, interpretation and analysis, visualization, and presentation/communication of results and recommendations
  • Maintains a working knowledge of healthcare coding and analytics techniques
  • Manages projects and team to appropriately to deliver results
  • Identifies and reconciles roadblocks to success and ensures documentation of all processes, analyses, design, data definitions, and development Works with various cross-functional teams including sales, product development, clinical, and care services Discovers opportunities for team growth or change, and engages with department director to determine best course(s) of action
  • Employee is expected to comply with HIPAA privacy laws and all other federal, state, and local regulations Report suspected or detected security events via company provided communication channels
  • Follow all company-defined operational policies and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, economics, public health, healthcare management and policy, or similar background
  • 8+ years’ work experience in analytics, preferably health analytics
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with SQL
  • 8+ years’ experience with statistical software such as SAS or R preferred
  • Management of large-scale projects and proven track record of leading a team
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, high growth environment
