Job Profile Summary: An exciting opportunity for a motivated, energetic and engaged Board-certified or Board-eligible vascular surgeon to join a hybrid community/academic practice in Minneapolis. We are looking for an individual looking for a collegial and collaborative environment that prioritize patient care. Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute (MHI) is the premier vascular surgical group in the Twin Cities in Minnesota. Prior experience is preferred but new graduates will be considered. This individual should have clinical expertise in all aspects of vascular surgery (open and complex endovascular interventions). Our institution has an ACGME accredited 2-year vascular surgery fellowship program and active involvement in the education of our trainees is expected. Academic productivity is encouraged and clinical research is performed in collaboration with the MHI Foundation. This opportunity is primarily based at Abbott Northwestern (ANW) Hospital, a 686-staffed bed teaching and specialty hospital based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We have an IAC accredited vascular laboratory. Procedures are performed in our dedicated hybrid endovascular suites and standard operating rooms. Outpatient venous procedures are performed in the office-based setting. Call is shared at ANW with limited exposure to trauma patients. In addition to the vascular surgery fellows, the program has support from advanced practice providers (PAs and NPs) for rounding and consultations. Outpatient clinics are supported by a full complement of nurses and administrative coordinators. Allina-Health Minneapolis Heart Institute (MHI) is a physician-led multidisciplinary group that provides cardiovascular care throughout Minnesota. Abbott Northwestern Hospital is part of Allina Health, a nonprofit healthcare system based in Minneapolis that operates 12 hospitals and more than 90 clinics throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The Allina-Health MHI Vascular Surgery practice offers the full spectrum of arterial and venous interventions.
Job Description:
Principle Responsibilities
- Direct Patient Care.
- Evaluates, diagnoses, consults and provides care to patients presenting with diseases and disorders affecting the arteries, veins and lymphatic systems, excluding vessels of the brain and heart.
- Provides expertise in the management of surgical disorders of the blood vessels, excluding the intercranial vessels of the heart.
- Procedures performed may include the opening of artery blockages to prevent stroke, correction of artery blockages in the legs and abdominal organs, repair of veins to improve circulation, treatment of aneurysms (bulges) in the aorta and care of patients suffering vascular trauma.
- Performs noninvasive diagnostic testing to detect vascular problems.
- Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
- Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.
- Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
- Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.
- Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.
- Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.
- Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
- May provide care in an ambulatory clinic, inpatient or outpatient hospital setting.
- May participate in on-call rotation
Quality.- Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.
- May participate in peer review and quality assurance.
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine required.
- Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited residency training program in General Surgery or foreign equivalent training required.
- Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited fellowship training program in Vascular Surgery required or completion of an ACGME accredited, integrated vascular surgery program required.
- Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required and Certified by the American Board of Surgery with a certificate of added qualification in vascular surgery upon hire.
- ACLS/BLS Tier 3 - Multisource required upon hire.
- Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire required.
- Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire required.
- National Provider Identifier upon hire required.
