POSITION DESCRIPTION
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Valet
DEPARTMENT: Parking
REPORTS TO: Bell/Valet Captain
Summary
Valet plays an important role in the guest experience as they are the first and last interaction during their stay. An ideal candidate for this position must encompass a willingness to serve and professional demeanor.
The focus of this role will be overseeing guest’s vehicles and handling guest’s luggage while providing excellent customer service.
Essential Functions
Major areas of responsibility/ management include, but are not limited to:
- Provides guests with a hospitable first expression while always practicing the 15-5 rule.
- Escorts and assists all guests with a smile and provides anticipatory service
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency when assisting guests while maintaining a calm and composed look.
- Opens car doors and hotel doors for all guests entering or leaving the hotel.
- Upon arrival, provides a proper introduction to the hotel, explaining the parking and vehicle request information, as well as the House Car Program to the guest
- Assist guests with luggage
- Issues and collects automobile claim tickets
- Parks and retrieves vehicles in a safe and timely manner.
- Performs daily audits of parked vehicles while maintaining the security of the parking lot
- Completes daily inventory of car keys in valet close
- Maintains front drive- sweeping up debris, maintains ashtrays, oversees outside cushions, and ensures bell carts are organized and polished.
- Assists Bellman/Doorman with any duties as needed
- Leads the Dewberry House Car program; drives guests to desired locations, retrieves vehicles for guest participating in the Self-Drive Program, maintains cleanliness of cars, ensures vehicles have a full tank of gas, fills out forms to give to the Front Desk to ensure guests are charged appropriately, drives all vehicles safely and in accordance with South Carolina Laws
- Utilizes work order system, “ALICE,” to receive tasks and log work
- Assists Concierge team with Dewberry Bicycles; helps put them out and back in each day, responsible for keeping bikes in good working condition - communicates any needed repairs to management
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions
- Ability to use technology to receive tasks and mark work as complete
- Ability to read English language sufficiently to ascertain information form luggage tags and claim checks
- Exceptional guest recovery skills
- Enjoy interacting with people in a fast-paced environment
- Must present a well-groomed appearance
- Must be dependable and available to work within the hotel on weekends, nights and/or holidays based on business demands
Physical Demands and Work Environments
- Able to work outside in all weather conditions – including wet and/or humid, cold and heat
- Able to bend over to enter and exit vehicles of various sizes and heights
- Able to quickly park and retrieve vehicles from parking area
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals
- Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position
- Frequent lifting and carrying boxes and/or luggage up to 100 pounds requiring manual dexterity in one hand to be able to load and unload luggage
- Ability to stand and walk for 8 hours a day
- Frequent repetitive motions, bending, climbing, stooping, pulling, grasping and writing
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $7.50 - $30.00 per hour
