Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Utility Locator in our Public Works Water Department.

The Utility Locator reports to the Water Utility Supervisor. The Utility Locator performs journey-level operational activities, including identifying, locating, and marking all seven subsurface Gilbert-owned utilities (water, wastewater, sewer, reclaimed water, fiber optic, storm water, traffic signal, and electric). Responsibilities include coordinating work with internal and external customers, operating complex instrumentation, and troubleshooting related complex operational issues. Additional essential duties include, but not limited to:

• 
  Locate seven Gilbert-owned underground utilities;
• Assist internal and external customers to resolve underground conflicts and issues;
• Identify inconsistencies in the Geographic Information System and plan review;
• Conduct damaged utility reports;
• Perform and enforce Arizona Revised Statutes Law;
• Utilize Global Positioning equipment;
• Confined space entry required;
• Other duties as assigned.

• Valid AZ Driver's License;
• Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Grade I Water Distribution within one year of hire.

At Team Gilbert, we hire outcome-oriented problem-solvers who love what they do! Here are some position requirements:

• 
  High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.);
• Up to one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school;
• Combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to at least three years of full-time employment in underground or utility construction-related work;
• 3 years of experience interpreting project plans, blue prints, plant maps, as-builts, or related materials, using electronic locating equipment, working according to Arizona Revised Statutes Law.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

• Arizona Revised Statute Law (Article 6.3,40-360.21 et.al.);
• Common Ground Alliance guidelines.

• Reading and interpreting Blue prints and As-Built prints with accuracy;
• Operating various electronic locating equipment, global positioning equipment, utilisphere software, and geographic information systems;
• Coordinating large-scale projects;
• Communication skills with both internal and external customers.
