INEOS ABS Utilities Operator with current Ohio Stationary Engineer License
The Utilities/WWTP Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient oversight of both the INEOS Boiler House and the INEOS Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). The Utilities Operator maintains an uninterrupted supply of utilities to the INEOS site and ensures compliance with EPA regulations for the INEOS Waste Water Treatment Plant. The successful applicant must possess a current or have documentable hours towards a State of Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer license.
INEOS ABS, an affiliate of Styrolution America LLC, is located in Addyston, OH, just outside of Cincinnati, OH. INEOS ABS produces a well-balanced portfolio of high-quality plastic polymers (beads) with a strong focus on specialty ABS.
General:
- Visually inspect and troubleshoot equipment problems and lockout boilers, pumps, tanks, water systems, etc. for maintenance and perform minor maintenance on area equipment.
- Preparing equipment to be worked on (lock out / line break, etc.) as well as guiding Maintenance to equipment location and initiating/completing necessary permits.
- Coordinate unit start-ups & shut-downs and perform the proper valving “in” or “out” of various vessel and systems.
- Operate and monitor process on multiple computerized control systems and adjust as necessary.
- Monitor process variable trends to make preemptive process changes as needed.
- Fill, secure, and label Hazardous Waste Drums.
- Work with Area Engineer to resolve process problems.
- Drain dikes.
- Drive a Fork Truck and operate plant vehicles when needed.
- Attendance and a punctual employee presence are essential.
Boiler House:
- Operate Boilers to generate steam and incinerate Main Duct.
- Ensure constant supply of good quality boiler feed water.
- Provide plant with good quality process water and cooling water.
- Run air compressors to provide plant with steady pressure and dry compressed air.
- Operate plant well system.
- Maintain plant cooling tower water chemistry.
- Operate Thermal Oxidizer for incineration purposes.
Wastewater Treatment:
- Monitor and Operate entire WWTP plant to maintain compliance with NPDES permit.
- Perform routine rounds, water testing, and troubleshooting.
- Monitor water quality by collecting and running test samples.
- Communicate with buildings and supervision about process.
- Monitor clean water sewer for spills and isolate as required.
- Run solids removal equipment and clean it when done.
- Operate and maintain the biofilter system per permit.
- Complete technician PM lists including weekly oiling routes.
Job Requirements
- Requires a current (or documentable hours that apply) State of Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer license, a high school diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of 12 months of experience in a production, maintenance, or utilities environment.
- Must take an offsite (company paid) WorkKeys Assessment Test.
- Must pass a post offer drug screen, background check, and physical.
- Ability to multitask, work independently with minimum supervision, work well in a team environment with diverse groups.
- Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to thoroughly understand and follow complex work procedures.
- Good analytical, math and computer skills. Complete and maintain INEOS Forklift Driving Certification and JLG training.
- Ability to operate chemical processes and equipment using a Distributed Control System (DCS) and troubleshoot using Aspen IP.21 Process Browser data.
Physical Requirements, Visual Acuity Requirements, and Environmental Conditions:
- Must be able to sit, stand, ascend and descend stairs, ascend and descend caged ladders, turn valve/wrench handles, bend, stoop, twist, kneel / crouch / crawl, reach above shoulder height, reach at or below shoulder height, and be exposed to high noise levels over 85 db.
- Must be able to rotate 12 hour shifts from nights to days. Must be able to Inside work 50% of the time and outside work 50% of the time in extreme cold or heat, at heights, around dusts / mists / fumes and on wet or damp walking or work surfaces.
- Must be able to work in cramped quarters and do confined space entry (vessels, man ways and steam drums).
- Must wear steel-toed shoes, long sleeve shirts, hearing protection, fall protection and other PPE when warranted.
- Required RPE may include ½ face respirator, full face respirator, PAPR, or SCBA. Must have the ability to work appropriately with hazardous water treatment chemicals and wear appropriate respiratory PPE.
- Must have the ability to respond to power outages quickly.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and to frequently lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Must have the ability to see written documents, computer screens and to adjust focus.
- Must have the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make discriminations in sound. Must perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels, with or without correction.
- Must be able to able to concentrate on their task at hand and not be impaired by medications (prescription, non-prescription, illegal or legal substances including alcohol) or any other mental condition which adversely affects alertness, concentration, or judgment.
