Position Overview:


Windwalker client, United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) Career Development Unit (CDU) is seeking a junior to mid-level instructional designer to join its instructional design team providing analysis, design, development and update services for in person, blended and online learning courses for the Law Enforcement arm of the US Postal Service.


Responsibilities:


Candidates will support all phases of the ADDIE model for the development of new courses and revisions to existing courseware. Positions located at client site in Potomac, MD. Limited telework arrangements are available.


Job responsibilities include supporting client personnel and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design and develop classroom and online courseware. The ISD analyzes training requirements; attends SME meetings to develop course objectives, content, learner activities, and exercises; develops course materials, which may include facilitator and participant guides, presentation materials, handouts, wall charts, DVDs, and web-based training products; attends train-the-trainer and pilot offerings; and revises course materials. In addition, the ISD either prepares or assists in the preparation of analysis reports, course design documents, development phase reports, implementation plans, evaluation reports, and revision reports.


The ISD will assist in maintaining the CDU’s FLETA Accreditation through accurate and timely completion of process reports.


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelors Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, Human Resources, Psychology or other related field and 10 years of experience or more OR…
  • MA or MS in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, Human Resources, Psychology or other related field and 5+ years of professional experience in training design and development.
  • Ability to obtain a low-level security clearance.
  • Ability to pass drug screening test.
  • Required software skills: Microsoft Office (Word Templates), Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, writing skills, and attention to detail


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Prior experience in developing Law Enforcement Training.


Special Screening Questions/Considerations:


The position works Full Time onsite at the USPIS facility in Potomac, MD. (That has been recently relaxed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Full-time Teleworking is allowed at this time.)

Under normal circumstances, usually 2 days a week of teleworking for contractors is allowed.

Position requires low-level security clearance with drug screening test.

Applicants will also have to provide fingerprint cards for clearance process.
