Job Description:- Desired Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Three or more years of experience working with medium or larger operational environments supporting Linux, AIX or Sun environments. Experience in Systems Administration including shell scripting and higher level programming languages required. • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, including facilitation and team skills. Strong problem solving skills. Be able to handle multiple tasks concurrently. Strong analytical skills required for timely problem resolution, accurate estimates of resource utilization, disciplined testing skills. • Willingness to learn new tools and technologies. • Experience in role: 1-3 years Plusses: • Experience with Kafka or other event platforms is a definite plus Day-to-day: • Insight Global is seeking a junior Unix Admin to provide front line support for the installation, use, and retirement of servers, applications and storage in a UNIX (Linux/AIX/Solaris) environment. Install, support and maintain applications, operating systems software, system administrator’s tools, microcode, firmware, storage hardware and software. Primary contacts are system administrators, database administrators, network administrators, middleware developers, application developers, client support, and data center operators. • Investigate integration and interface problems. Proactive in monitoring all servers and related software. Perform OS installations and upgrades. Coordinate installation and upgrade activities to minimize downtime. Customize installations to optimize the organization’s current and future environment. Maintain and protect the integrity of servers, applications, and data to support the uninterrupted continuation of business activities. • Instruct application developers or other system administrators in the use of operating system, systems management, and/or services concepts and tools to improve the efficiency of applications or systems. May instruct database administration and system operations in the specialized use of these concepts and tools. Work with application analysts or developers to plan for future applications and systems use. • Support ongoing efforts to deploy and expand Kafka eventing framework. Run and maintain Kafka deployments. Work with developers to troubleshoot connectivity issues.
