We have 11 clinics located throughout the River Region, 2 mobile clinics, and 4 school-based clinics in partnership with Montgomery Public SchoolsHSI is looking for an Unit Coordinator to join our team in Clanton. The Unit Coordinator plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing care of the unit or center, in accordance with HSl's established philosophy and protocols. Responsible for the orientation, training, and management of nursing personnel as assigned.
This position typically works a standard schedule of 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday, however, schedule adjustments may be necessary based on need.
Job Duties:
- Triages walk-in patients, working closely with the providers and the unit Chief of Medicine, to determine need for patient to be seen at that time.
- Maintains patient flow in collaboration with the provider's responsibilities and availability. Documents return patient visits.
- Promotes excellent relationship with all patients, helping them make future appointments if unable to be seen at that time.
- Monitors and assists other support personnel in patient education.
- Administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly, as needed.
- Responds in medical emergencies occurring on unit and administers first aid and/or medical assistance.
- Provides back-up assistance in doing venipunctures when needed.
- Is responsible for the correct supervision of all procedures and protocols required on the unit. Keeps appropriate logs & tracking information.
- Supervises all nursing employees assigned to unit, including students, orientees, or any others, identifying problems and guiding them to their solution.
- Orders all supplies and equipment and for notifying the RN Special Operations of equipment problems. Provides satisfactory working climate for nursing personnel.
- Participates in planning changes and improvements and in reviewing and revising policies and procedures. Evaluates the performance of personnel with recommendations for appropriate action.
- Maintains a professional approach with total confidentiality. Displays initiative for completing tasks in a timely manner.
- Keeps Director of Nursing informed of patients and personnel problems on the nursing unit. Observes and supports HSI policy.
- Supports and enforces infection control policies and procedures.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current, unrestricted Alabama LPN or RN license.
- Certification in BCLS and CEUs sufficient for licensure
- Competent in IV therapy and venipuncture.
- At least one-three years direct experience as a charge nurse or nurse supervisor preferred.
