Responsibilities
In keeping with Marian Medical Center health care philosophy, the Nurse Assistant/Unit Clerk serves as unit receptionist, transcribes orders, orders tests, orders and monitors supply inventory and coordinates unit phone communication. Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse of licensed vocational
nurse, the Nurse Assistant/Unit Clerk performs unit support activities, such as transporting patients, stocking shelves and cleaning work areas, and maintaining medical records according to standard. Reports observations regarding patient status to the registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse.
Provides care for adult patients over 13 years of age. Employees are responsible for completion of unit competency assessments, annual Safety Review, CPR and renewal of certifications (when applicable) by maintaining continuing education units as required by hospital policy. In addition to listed major
responsibilities, the Nurse Assistant/Unit Clerk may be assigned other duties.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience Required:
Acute care experience within the last two years. Nurse assistants/unit clerks without acute care experience within the last two years will be considered on an individual basis.
Licensure Required:
CT CPRBLS;CT NA
