About the role
We are looking for an Underground Shift Coordinator to work closely with and in support of the Project Team and Owners Team. This role will report to the Underground area manager and be responsible for:
- Oversee and coordinate project work activities
- Execution of planning and integration with operations
- Oversite of Project Contractors
- Ensure proper permitting
- Quality assurance
- Coordination of Pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
- Coordinate day to day work scope between other contractor teams and active operations
- Manage project daily reports and project documentation
Key Deliverables:
- Ensure successful and safe execution of projects through detailed planning and execution of scopes of work in compliance with the following:
- RTKC HSE standards and programs
- RTKC Contractor Management standards
- RTKC Permitting processes
- Construction Contract scope, schedule and cost
- Engineering and Design specifications and quality
- Support the project team in the development and execution of the following:
- RTKC HSE and Contractor Management documentation
- Scope of Work documents
- Project Execution Plan documents
- Quality Assurance/Commissioning Execution Plan documents
- Quality Assurance/Commissioning forms and documentation
- Construction, Pre-commissioning and Commissioning Schedules
About you
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 10+ years’ experience in an underground mining capacity
- 2+ years’ supervisor experience
- Underground development mining experience.
- Underground construction experience
- Problem solving skills
- Uncompromised commitment to working safely and creating a Zero Harm working environment.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience with operational personnel coordination
- Experience with cross functional team management
- Critical Risk Management and practices
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills – incident management
- Quality assurance, pre-commissioning and commissioning experience a plus
- High level of schedule development and management experience
- Word processing, Spreadsheet management, Email management (Microsoft products)

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903, and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
