ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT


Hutchinson is in the Green Mountain area of Jefferson County Schools and we take pride in building strong partnerships with its families and the surrounding community. We offer Pre-K through 5th grade programming as well as a center program supporting students with identified emotional needs. These students are provided with additional supports to promote success in both behaviors and academics. Hourly Rate: $20.14, Annual Rate: $28,995.03 Effective as of: 08-16-2022


**Annual salary noted above is based on an 8 hour day and full days worked calendar. Any position that is less than a full FTE/8 hours per day or late start will be prorated accordingly.


Certain Education Support Professional (ESP) jobs may include the value of holiday pay into the hourly rate. Review the Holiday in Rate column of the Education Support Professional Job Title, Wage Plan, Grade document.


PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT


The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.

RESPONSIBILITIES


SUMMARY: Will supplement on-site instruction in the areas of literacy at elementary and K-8 schools. Assist with the identification process of at-risk students and will assess students for English language and reading proficiencies within foundational skills. Maintain the necessary program documents for compliance with District guidelines aligned to the Jeffco High Dosage Tutoring Program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Supplement on-site instruction in the areas of literacy through high dosage tutoring with small groups of students. Focus is the development of foundational skills for reading.

Communicate with students' classroom teachers and other staff as appropriate, contacting District Resource Teachers and/or District Instructional Coaches for technical assistance.

Maintain professional job ethics and practices, maintain confidentiality in all respects (conversations, records and legal issues).

Compile and maintain records, documents and other data as mandated by District, State and Federal guidelines.

Administer appropriate tests to assess students in the areas of language proficiency and literacy.

Coordinate communication between home and school.

Utilize web-based resources to gather data and/or obtain instructional tools/documents to communicate and support learning.

Attend required training to enhance professional growth and awareness of program guidelines and instructional practices.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma/GED required.

EXPERIENCE: Two or more years' experience working with students in a classroom setting preferred.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT: Strong literacy and language skills and positive approach to instruction. Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills. Basic computer skills such as Google Docs and Sheets, email, and the ability to access any other web-based assessment tools. Employees will receive training on Federal guidelines, policies and instructional strategies, including child abuse procedures, assessment and program documentation, literacy, language acquisition.

SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This position serves as a resource on a specific functional area

CONTACTS: Daily contact with persons in same unit/building to negotiate controversial or confidential matters; with persons outside department/building to maintain relationships; and with students to resolve problems or negotiate matters.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to compare, analyze, communicate, coordinate, instruct, and use interpersonal skills. The employee is frequently required to synthesize, evaluate, and negotiate. The employee is occasionally required to copy, compute, and compile.

JUDGMENT AND DECISION MAKING: This position requires limited supervision. An individual will proceed on his/her own initiative in compliance with policies, practices, and procedures prescribed by their immediate supervisor. When tutoring a student, this person must be able to analyze the lesson plans provided by a licensed teacher, and use instructional strategies which would best meet the students' needs. Position requires collaborative decision making to include classroom teachers, resource teachers, counselors and administrators. An error in not communicating issues or information to a certified or licensed staff member could potentially have a negative and adverse impact on legal liability to the District and could negatively impact student achievement. Supervisor is always involved in making decisions.

DIVERSITY OF DUTIES: Duties require knowledge of K-12 curriculum and District content area standards to include testing, record keeping, data collection and input, instructional tutoring, knowledge about legal requirements/guidelines and policies, collaboration, communication skills at school/home. Act as an advocate and liaison for students with building staff, parents, and community. Duties and actions impact individuals within building.
