SUMMARY:
It will be the Site Safety Manager's responsibility to support corporate goals regarding safety, training, and new hire orientations. They will ensure compliance of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), and Department of Transportation (DOT). This will be achieved by conducting training, safety observations, administration, and by supporting supervisors, and other staff to ensure they are in line with and comply with governmental, company, and client polices. This position is based out of our corporate headquarters in Union, MO, but the position will require extensive travel, possibly for weeks or months while working on projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position reports directly to the Corporate Safety Director.
- Advises the Corporate Office on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions while ensuring OSHA/safety compliance.
- Works with Site Superintendents to plan training. Conducts training for employees in work site safety practices including new hire orientations and job specific tasks.
- Verifies all safety training, files, records, and reports are sent or copied to the corporate office.
- Performs drug testing according to policies and applicable laws.
- Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
- Holds daily safety meetings with employees. A weekly summary log of those meetings is to be kept and filed along with the behavioral observations.
- Conduct audits to verify that employees are educated in identifying all hazards related to their task and within their environment. Verifying that JHA's are completed (correctly) and that any identified hazards have been eliminated or controlled.
- Conduct observations to help improve work practices, training, equipment selection, tools, etc.
- Help employees to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
- Transports injured employees for treatment & testing when needed.
- Ensures that all incidents, near misses, safety infractions/violations, concerns, etc. are reported to the Corporate Office as soon as possible.
- Performs safety hazard assessments, observations, inspections, and surveys, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. Ability to recognize and perform training in areas of deficiency.
- Perform and/or assist with investigations of all incidents.
- Perform other duties as assigned, to include supporting the corporate office in other than safety related duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with OSHA regulatory requirements and training relating to construction and industrial operations.
- Active OSHA 500 or 501 card; or meeting requirements and ability to obtain trainer card preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management, site supervision, clients, and employees.
- Must have a driver's license that allow one to transport others for work purposes and have a clean motor vehicle record
- Experience in industrial settings is beneficial.
- Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
WORK AVAILABILITY:
- This position will require extensive travel to many different jobsites.
- Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined by management.
- Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as the employer determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs and ladders, use hands and fingers. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to see clearly when wearing safety glasses.
- Ability to work outside in the weather/elements year-round.
