Herzog Transit Services, Inc. is currently looking for Transportation Specialist in South Florida (Pompano Beach) area to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

• Coordinate commuter rail movement with the SFRTA Train Dispatcher, and communicate on time performance information of Tri-Rail commuter trains to employees, passengers and others through various means.
• Receives reports of disruptions and deficiencies occurring at stations, such as ticket vending machine and elevator malfunctions, and forwards such information to SFRTA and those responsible for maintenance and repair.
• Receives calls around security concerns and is responsible for forwarding this information to security and/or law enforcement as required.
• Acts and aids in emergency situations and ensures continuous compliance with Herzog and SFRTA rules and regulations.
• Maintain event logs, produces, and distributes various reports, maintains/updates databases.
• Handles management of the work force during his/her shift, ensuring that crew duties are accomplished in compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreements.
• Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required (related college coursework a plus)
• Flexibility to work a variety of days and hours; including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under multiple demanding situations
• Must be able to communicate in English in a clear and concise manner both orally and written
• Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• Attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidential information
• Ability to type 35 words per minute

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
• Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
• Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
• Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

• Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to one-half mile.
• Maintain balance for an extended period of time while train is in motion.
• Must be able to be aware of surroundings and follow verbal commands while being exposed to moderately loud noises on a daily basis.
• Work in a confined access/space environment with a width of 16 inches.
• Must be able to adapt to various temperature extremes including but not limited to heat, cold, moisture and wind.
• Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
• Able to tolerate repetitive movements, squatting/bending, and overhead reaching.
• Able to lift up to shoulder height and horizontally transfer up to 35 pounds for a distance up to 10 feet.
• Regularly kneel, bend, squat for extended periods of time.
• Regularly reach overhead.
• Regularly grasp/squeeze equipment with a force up to 20 pounds.
• Regularly ascend/descend a platform with a height of up to 36 inches from the floor.
• Regularly ascend and descend an 8 step ladder while carrying up to 20 pounds.
• Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
• Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals.
• Able to work in a safety sensitive work environment.
