Job Summary:
This position is in charge of dispatching for Transit vehicles and provides a communication link to transit drivers for the City of Greeley. The dispatcher uses two-way radio, telephone, and/or computer to transmit assignments and compile daily operating statistics; and provides direction to and maintains two-way communications with all operators while monitoring Transit system performance and making scheduling adjustments where necessary to maximize on-time performance, minimize customer wait times for on-call or will-call services, and minimize service disruptions as a result of vehicle/operator availability, and/or emergency situations.
The incumbent answers telephone inquiries related to the fixed route transit services and schedules; facilitates communication between drivers, mechanics, and route supervisors; maintains records of all para-transit eligible clients including re-certification, "no shows", and policy issues; and maintains and prepares daily, monthly, and yearly ridership records and reports.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior related experience desirable; a combination of experience and education is accepted.
- Computer application knowledge desirable, including Microsoft Office Suite applications and Automated Scheduling software.
- Proficiency using standard office equipment, e.g., printers and copiers.
- Knowledge of automated office and two-way radio equipment required.
- Good oral and written communication skills with knowledge of medical terminology and disabling conditions related to function desirable.
- Ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to become familiar with geography of service area including street layouts and be able to interpret information from a map.

- Prepare forms or other materials, sort, separate, arrange, file, and distribute paperwork.
- Operate standard office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements.
- Handle a telephone system with exceptional customer service.
- Handle emergency situations related to weather, accidents, injuries, or detours.
- Work schedule: days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Office environment with frequent contact with the public by telephone and occasionally in person.
- Frequent interruptions.
- Occasional stressful environment.
- Extended periods of time at fixed workstation.
- Subject to working alone and/or with groups and/or attends meetings.
- May be required to conduct business in alternate locations within City buildings or field sites, sometimes in formal settings.
- May be required to work overtime, holidays, evenings, shifts, or weekends.
- Frequent contact with the public-in person, via email/telephone; sometimes facing adverse or confrontational situations with internal/external customers.
- Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions-as in typical office or administrative work.
- Work performed is sedentary.
- Subject to driving City vehicle in all weather conditions.
- Communication skills enough to convey information verbally, in writing, and on telephone.
- The essential functions of this job require frequent hearing and repetitive motion; continuously sitting and talking; and occasional carrying/lifting light objects (25lbs), crouching, feeling, fingering, reaching, standing, and walking.
- Occasional exposure to associated fumes, gases, odors, and dust.
- This is a safety-sensitive position and random drug testing is required.
- Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment.
- Required to sit for extended periods of time.
- Required use of hands to finger feel to operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Employee is required to have visual acuity for close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
