Department Profile
Tampa General Hospital is home to one of the busiest transplant programs in both the state of Florida and the nation. The transplant unit has 48 private rooms dedicated to organ transplant and post intensive care ventricular assist device (VAD) patients. The nursing team works closely with the Tampa General Medical Group (TGMG) delivering exceptional care using a multidisciplinary approach. This is a unit of elite class, highly trained, and qualified nurses where miracles happen every day.

Duties & Responsibilities
- The transplant referral coordinator is responsible for processing all incoming referrals and work to expedite alongside the referring providers.
- Responsible for obtaining medical records, demographics and insurance information on all patients referred to the transplant programs & working directly with referring providers to expedite referrals to the transplant center.
- Alerts the transplant and financial staff of potential issues regarding the patient’s financialstatus; collects and maintains pertinent medical information to maintain accurate medical andfinancial records.
- Primary contact for both patients and physicians prior to the first consultation to act as a resource and provide appointment education.
- Work directly with the transplant coordinators and physicians to ensure timely patient service.

Required Work Experience and Additional Information
- Computer literate & proficient in computer software (Word, Excel)
- Excellent communication skills & familiarity with medical terminology
- Prior healthcare experience in clinical setting such as a hospital or MD office
