Job Purpose:

Works closely with location, district, and regional staff to onboard new employees, retrain current employees, and maintain training records while creating a positive safety & training culture that delivers expected results.

Major Responsibilities:

1) Provides direct oversight and management of training operations primarily for drivers and monitors.

2) Provides direction, guidance, and training; establishes schedules for location trainers and other reporting staff; follows consistent training procedures; provides training metrics; and identifies and implements best practices.

3) Provides and supports classroom instruction and Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) training for all new and current employees as needed; required certification and skills enhancement training.

4) Implements and monitors the contents of classroom and BTW training to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company requirements.

5) Initiates and maintains all training files to ensure compliance with federal and state rules and regulations, company policies and procedures to include but not limited to behind the wheel documents, MVR’s, driver authorizations, fingerprint cards, final evaluation results, and third party testing.

6) Implements and conducts annual road evaluation/observation on each trainer. Assures that all new hire evaluations completed within a 10 to 30 day period after certification.

7) Conducts regular meetings with trainers and other applicable staff evaluating and reviewing training issues, training effectiveness, accidents, and personal injuries or as required by contract.

8) Works with other staff members to support recruitment of applicants, monthly safety meetings, Train-the-Trainer, Rodeo, and other activities.

9) Continually look for new and inventive ways to recruit and retain new employees; identifies and implements training efficiencies and process improvements.

10) Demonstrates and promotes a safe learning environment at all times.

11) Maintains compliance with all federal and state rules and regulations, company and local policies and procedures and required documentation.

12) Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Education & Certifications Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Possess, or have the ability to obtain within 2-4 months, CDL operator’s license with endorsement and other state or local permits as required.
Experience & Requirements:
  • 2 to 4 years of transportation safety experience preferred.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding DOT standards, safety, and environmental issues strongly preferred.
Skills:
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to use or learn to use internet based services, GPS type monitoring systems, additional programs as required, and office equipment.
