The Town of Snowmass Village is looking to hire a Town Engineer to join our Public Works Department!
Position salary range: $100,464.00 - $140,836.80
Hiring range: $100,464.00 - $120,650.00
$1,000 sign-on bonus is available!
We are looking for an Engineer that will perform a variety of routine and complex administrative, supervisory, technical and professional work managing the engineering functions within Public Works. The Town Engineer will also work on short and long-range planning to support engineering and capital projects.
Some of the day-to-day duties are listed below:
  • Creates and maintains the Town’s Engineering Standards as outlined in the Municipal Code. Reviews, maintains and modifies the Town municipal codes related to design and construction as required. Develops recommendations for guidelines and policies pertaining to construction within the Town.
  • Technical review of site development and subdivision submittals to ensure conformance to Town, Engineering and Development Standards.
  • Reviews and oversees construction within the Town pertaining to proposed public infrastructure to ensure compliance with Town ordinances, policies, permits, agreements and regulations.
  • Reviews any proposed variance requests, traffic studies, and drainage studies relating to Town Engineering Standards and Criteria. Approves and inspect work for all projects involving public acceptance of infrastructure located within the city rights-of-way.
  • Supervises and reviews the activities of subordinates engaged in carrying out public works/ project management with Public Works.
  • Provides customer service by appropriately responding to complaints/inquiries, identifying solutions, and resolving issues. Proactively identifies and resolves potential project conflicts. Coordinates with other departments as needed.
  • Prepares contracts, bid packages, advertisements, and project documentation, and ensures these materials meet department and regulatory standards.
  • Capital Improvement Projects (CIP): Reviews and approves the budget design, costs, change orders, and schedules related to Capital Projects, manages and directs CIP Construction, and coordinates CIP’s internally with other departments and externally with other governmental agencies and special districts. Manages consultants and contractors.
  • Requests Proposals or Bids: Develops and reviews Requests for Proposals (RFP’s) for consultants, contractors, and vendors and solicits proposals and bids, reviews bid proposals, and prepares recommendations for management and council approval.
  • Construction Management: Reviews and mediates construction disputes, reviews/recommends new specifications, meets with developers and developer representatives regarding projects in the community, coordinates projects, and oversees quality control and assurance.
  • Public Works Administration: Reviews Rights-of-Way descriptions, attends/conducts public meetings, reviews infrastructure problems and solutions, coordinates major maintenance projects, and approves development plans with respect to engineering.

The ideal candidate has the following qualifications/skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, public administration or a closely related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management or related experience
  • Licensed Engineer in the State of Colorado
