The Tower Operator is responsible for the overall barge anchor winches, coordinating the movement of vessels in the vicinity of the barge, and documenting all activities on the barge. The employee must be able to work 8 to 12 hours, rotating shifts which will include an offshore rotation of 28 days on and 14 days off unless otherwise changed. Must have transportation to and from the jobsite(s).

Must observe all safety and security procedures at all times and utilize all equipment/materials properly. Must be prepared and able to exercise Stop Work Authority for any actions that appear unsafe and report any potentially unsafe conditions. Must be able to pass a post offer physical exam and drug screening.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following, additional duties may be assigned:

  • Operate the barge anchor winches while maintaining constant watch and providing feedback regarding barge position and wire tensions as directed
  • Direct the anchor handling tug to their respective anchor positions from anchor patterns, GPS and other information given by the surveyor
  • Coordinate the movement of vessels in the vicinity of the barge
  • Complete and maintain a journal of all barge activities for the 24 hour period
  • Ensures compliance with Manson’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct.
  • Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma/GED preferred. Must be able to communicate, take direction well, and work cooperatively with other colleagues. Must have ability to give and receive, understand, respond and follow verbal and written communications and instructions. Five (5) years’ experience as a Tower/Anchor Operator preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid picture identification required. Position will require valid Transporation Workers Identification Card (TWIC). IS NetWorld card is preferred. Certified training in all or any of the following preferred: Rigging, Fall Protection, Water Survival, Marine Trash & Debris, Fire Fighting-Incipient, SEMS II Awareness, and SafeGulf.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators, etc. The employee will perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, total body movements such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping for the handling, moving, positioning, and installing of materials, equipment and manipulating controls. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or up to 50 pounds. Must be able to navigate step stools, stairs, ladders and gangways, boards, work on and disembark floating vessels and structures. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. The employee may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
