Job description
Whitcraft has an exciting opportunity for a candidate who would like to learn the Machining and Tool Maker trades. This is a paid apprenticeship where Whitcraft will train and develop in-house Tool Makers for a promising career. The apprentice will then work alongside experienced CNC Machinists and Toolmakers.
During the training phase, the apprentice will work under the direction of journeyman Toolmakers and experienced Machinists. Our Tool and Die Apprentice will learn about metal stamping, die set-up, and use all manual machines such as saws, mills, drill presses, grinders, and lathes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attends paid Tool Maker off-site training, as required
- Performs simple tasks associated with tool and die under direct supervision.
- Assists with disassembly and reassembly of die sets.
- Working with and safe operation of all conventional Tool Room Equipment
- Gain an understanding of a press
- Working to sketches and verbal instructions.
- Willing to work with other Toolmakers
- Meeting all time standards
- Must keep work area neat and orderly
- Follow all applicable AS9100 procedures and all Quality requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills:
- Excellent Interpersonal skills
- Troubleshooting skills
- Blueprint Reading (desired but not needed)
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; trade school preferred
- Machining background and/or experience in a machine shop, preferred
- Willingness to excel in the machining trade
- Must be willing to attend off-site training and be willing to learn
- Ability to life equipment up to 50 lbs.
