Position Overview/Purpose: To buy standing timber or logs. The timber buyer will: develop and manage sources of supply weekly within agreed upon targets.

Position Description:

Purchase standing timber or logs within the counties of but not limited to Tuscola, Sanilac, Lapeer, St. Clair, and Huron counties in Michigan.

Responsibilities:

To negotiate the Purchase, and to coordinate the harvest of tracts of standing timber while operating within company and regulatory guidelines. In addition to standing timber purchases; buyer also will purchase precut logs and coordinate trucking to mill. Gather names of prospective clients. Turn in all expected paperwork. Buyers will also be expected to move work crews, keep track of loggers, check on completed and in progress jobs.

Expectations: To purchase specified amount of timber per month or more. To work between 45 to 50 hours a week.

HMI Hardwoods LLC is a North American hardwood lumber manufacturer, with over 50 years of experience. HMI sells kiln dried hardwood lumber and logs domestically and internationally. HMI is a fully-integrated hardwood lumber manufacturing operation. We purchase and harvest timber and saw lumber at our own mill. We dry, plane, rip and package our lumber within one facility. Although we produce green lumber, we also purchase approximately 1,500,000 feet of green lumber monthly from other Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Ontario mills. HMI Hardwoods employs an average of 110 employees.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
