LSSI is offering a part-time position for Treatment Foster Care Skills Coach. As a member of the TFC team, provides direct skills coaching and teaching to children in the Treatment Foster Care Program. Interventions are defined by the child’s treatment plan within the context of an evidence-based model of treatment foster care for children and their families using a trauma-informed approach.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides one-on-one behavioral coaching and teaching to children in the Treatment Foster Care program.
  • Works closely with other team members to identify the specific skill(s) the child needs to work on, including the method(s) for teaching the skill, as well as monitoring and rewarding for child’s progress.
  • Works collaboratively with team members to provide prosocial skill development for the child through instruction, practice and coaching.
  • Amends approach based on child’s needs, progress, and feedback from Team Leader.
  • Takes child on activities and outings in the community to provide mentoring and recreation, focusing on specific behaviors and skills the child needs to learn and practice, applying principles from social learning theory and trauma informed care.
  • Participates in weekly Foster Parent Support and Training meetings, as required.
  • Completes and submits Medicaid compliant progress notes within required timeframes and any other agency required reports related to service provision.
  • Participates in supervisory process for guidance, direction, support, and approval of decision-making, assessment, service planning and intervention. Presents cases for staffing or participate in staffings as needed, including weekly team meetings.
Position Qualifications:
  • Minimum of High School Degree or its equivalent; Associate’s Degree or completion of some college credits desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing, including completing notes in organization's Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide services using a team approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate children, their families and foster parents to participate in a highly detailed treatment model.
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license and proof of automobile liability insurance is required. Access to transportation for visits, meeting, and to transport client as needed.
  • Background check clearance, both Criminals and CANTS
