Work Performed:
Performs a variety of test operations to test and “run-in” production transmissions, gearboxes, drive shafts and other related mechanisms or systems. May be required to perform operations on production, experimental, or developmental type transmissions and components per engineering instructions. Sets up and installs such items as gear boxes, transmissions and other components on test stands and operates for break-in period. In case of malfunction, removes and/ or replaces or repairs component parts of items being tested. Periodically checks assemblies being tested working from written or verbal instructions, drawings, or specifications. Operates controls in control area to specific instructions. Sets, adjusts, and uses a wide variety of gauges, switches, controls, etc., to perform required tests. Observes and checks a variety of instruments and controls while test is in progress and may set up and maintain necessary logs, charts, and records of each test run and other pertinent data.

May be required to perform a variety of adjustments on test stands for proper functioning.

May be required to perform duties of Assembler, Gear Box when not required to perform test stand operations.

Tools & Equipment Used:
Mechanics’ hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, lubricants, test stands and other equipment necessary to perform above work.

Experience & Other Requirements:
Three years in the classification of Assembler, Gear Box, Job Code 206, at Bell Helicopter Company. High school diploma or GED required. Prefer experience with helicopter transmission or jet engine test stand operations.
