The Middlebury College Summer Arabic School is pleased to announce vacancies for a temporary Instructor of Arabic. These in-person positions are available during the summer 2023 session (June 19 - August 19, 2023), located on the Bennington College campus in Bennington, Vermont, USA. Our unique 8-week program combines a cultural immersion environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction. This is an opportunity to join a community of learners by actively engaging in teaching, dining, residing and leading co-curricular activities with students while reading, writing and speaking exclusively in Arabic. While at Middlebury, lodging and meals will be provided.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess a Ph.D. (ABD or M.A. with strong credentials may also be considered) or a DML (Doctorate of Modern Language) in linguistics, second language acquisition, or similar fields.

We are looking for exceptional faculty who have extensive teaching experience in Arabic as a second or foreign language, including teaching aspects of Arab culture and society. The successful candidates should have strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated success working as a member of an instructional team. Candidates with a creative, dynamic, and flexible approach with openness for accepting new teaching methods and environments will be an excellent fit in the Arabic School.
