Role Summary
The Technology Compliance Director is a role within the Alaska Airlines technology team, reporting to the Managing Director & Chief Information Security Officer. This role is the sole subject matter expert in successful planning and execution of annual technology SOX compliance requirements for the enterprise. This role will partner with Finance and Internal Audit teams to facilitate timely evidence collection, direct technology teams, develop plans, manage priorities, and ensure that compliance responses and deliverables are successfully completed within the annual compliance cycle. As an individual contributor this role works to design and implement innovative solutions to address technology SOX compliance requirements for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.
Key Duties
- As the sole subject matter expert in planning and execution of annual technology SOX compliance, this role will provide the strategic direction for SOX compliance activities through long-term planning, coordination, and communications across the technology team and functional business areas.
- Lead process reviews and identify opportunities for significant enhancements to design and implement innovative solutions to improve processes and related program activities.
- Define the long-term strategy for ongoing and comprehensive program improvement, such as recommending and implementing changes that will drive efficiencies and control enhancements for areas of compliance risk.
- Make significant, impactful decisions to resolve compliance issues and manage related dependencies to keep compliance deliverables on track. Escalate risks as necessary and help devise contingency plans as appropriate to mitigate risks.
- Lead timely evidence collection and responses to SOX compliance requirements from control owners.
- Partner and advise business stakeholders to prepare an annual compliance work plan based on comprehensive, annual compliance risk assessment and requirements.
- Partner with Supply Chain Management to review new software contracts to ensure appropriate language around SOX/internal control expectations.
- Communicate clear expectations and collaborate with control owners and stakeholders, and continually manage those expectations throughout the compliance lifecycle.
- Influence across technology leadership, finance stakeholders, and internal audit to identify control gaps or deficiencies and gain commitments to the timely remediation of such through appropriate investments and/or process changes.
- Construct compliance postmortems to capture lessons learned for identifying and driving improvements.
- Maintain a current working knowledge of various laws, regulations, and industry guidance.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
- 10 or more years of experience in managing technology SOX compliance and related program activities/resources.
- Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
- Ability to manage the dynamics of cross-functional technology and business teams.
- Ability to influence and effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical persons.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft suite of tools including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint.
- Ability to analyze, organize and simplify complex problems to develop practical solutions.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
- CISA certification.
- Preferably PMP certified/trained.
