Position description
The Department of Neurology seeks a highly motivated, dynamic individual for the position of a Junior or Assistant Specialist. This individual will contribute to the development and implementation of animal and clinical research under the direct supervision of Dr. Ari Green and Dr. Bridget Ostrem, faculty members in the Department of Neurology. Interested applicants must have outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills, an active interest in cutting-edge research and the capacity to communicate effectively regarding scientific concepts. Job requirements will include lab based, clinical, and administrative functions related to the specified project. Previous experience in molecular biology, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, and mouse models/genotyping are preferred. Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are required. Minimum two-year commitment is required. We encourage candidates from underrepresented backgrounds to apply.
Required qualifications:
- Junior Specialist- a bachelor’s degree
- Assistant Specialist- a master’s degree or at least five years of research experience.
Candidates must meet the required qualifications at the time of appointment. Candidate’s CV must state qualifications (or if pending) upon submission.
Responsibilities:
- Animal (mouse) care/handling
- Histology/immunohistochemistry
- Genotyping
- Assist with advanced visual procedures
- Assist in developing experiment protocols
- Work closely with team of post-docs and other specialists
- Opportunities to work with patients, conducting observational and interventional trials
