This position is for a Technical Writer supporting the OptumRx – Client Management organization. Chief responsibilities of this position include designing and maintaining procedural material (P&P, Job Aids, Decision Trees, etc.) for the business unit.
The source information is gathered from Subject Matter Experts (SME), where the individual appropriate for this role would then use their expertise on wordsmith, formatting, process flow, and information-mapping to create a clearly written, user-friendly tool that both a seasoned employee and a new hire could follow.
The candidate for this position should be able to work independently and within a team environment. Organization and project management skills are integral to success in this role. The individual will be expected to work with our internal business customers to ensure the content continually aligns with the business objectives. The ability to develop and maintain, collaborative relationships with customers and within the team is expected.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Write and edit internal web-based procedural material.
- Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, and content.
- Assist with interviewing subject matter experts to become familiar with applications and production methods.
- Assist with validating deliverables for accuracy, readability, and usability.
- Adhere to internal style guide standards.
- Manage review, approval and execution processes to ensure achievement of writing objectives in addition to production, quality and turnaround time standards.
- Know audience(s) to be addressed in the writing process (e.g., who they are, where they are, how they prefer to get information, reading level and health literacy requirements).
- Monitor feedback on procedural material and address questions or concerns as appropriate; follow up with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or 2+ years of Business or Technical Writing experience
- 1+ year Business or Technical Writing experience.
- 1+ year experience with HTML & CSS.
- 3+ years working knowledge in each of the following: Microsoft Office Suite - Microsoft Word (creating and editing word documents), Excel (creating spreadsheets and formulas), and PowerPoint (Create and view presentations).
- Beginner proficiency level in Lean and process mapping
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in healthcare.
- Degree in Communications, English, Marketing or similar field of study.
- Certification in Technical Writing.

- An ability and willingness to work as part of a team in a matrix organization.
- A willingness to learn in order to conduct the role required by the job, as well as the role’s relationship to the overall organization.
- A high level of comfort with distilling technical information into easily understandable explanations.

The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada / New York City residents is $23.94 to $42.40.
