Job Summary

Obsidian is seeking an experienced and motivated Technical Editor to join our Lackland AFB team. The Technical Editor will review cyber and range documentation. Review policies and procedures for constructing and archiving technical reports.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Review reports for accuracy, grammar and compliance with AF and DoD guidelines for official documents.
  • Provide technical editing services during all phases of projects, including formatting, editing, proof reading (e.g., Rough order magnitudes (ROM) cost estimates, Test support agreements (TSA), test and assessment plans, data management analysis plans (DMAPS), test and range procedure documentation, test and assessment reports, network security related regulations, policies and guidance training, standard operating procedures, informational materials, technical publications, range network diagrams, flow charts and graphical images, and documents in support of all test and range functions.
  • Lead efforts to train and educate the organization's use of knowledge management and information sharing.
  • Manage the indexing/cataloguing, storage, and access of explicit organizational knowledge (e.g., hard copy documents, digital files).
  • Design, build, implement, and maintain a knowledge management framework that provides end-users access to the organization’s intellectual capital.
  • Promote knowledge sharing between information owners/users through an organization’s operational processes and systems.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience providing communications support to sensitive programs and topics with the DoD.
  • Expert knowledge, skill and ability to write, edit and revise documents tailored to the highest levels of the U.S Government/DoD
  • Knowledge of the organization's core business/mission processes.
  • Excellent command of spelling, grammar, and punctuation with strong attention to detail and consistency.
  • Experience using a variety of software (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Knowledge of Cloud-based knowledge management technologies and concepts related to security, governance, procurement, and administration.
  • Knowledge of the principal methods, procedures, and techniques of gathering information and producing, reporting, and sharing information.
  • Skill in using knowledge management technologies.
  • Ability to match the appropriate knowledge repository technology for a given application or environment.
