Overview:
Supports the Fort Buchanan Network Enterprise Center with Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Management (C4IM) Services for customers located at Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico.
Responsibilities:
- Be telephonically available to the Government representative from 0700 thru 1600, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays
- Be available to be at a specified work location within 30 minutes during normal duty hours and within two hours after duty hours
- Perform communications, situational awareness, and communications restoration of circuits for all users on Fort Buchanan
- Operate and maintain installed circuits and telecommunication equipment
- Monitor all Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN) circuits daily and report outages IAW Standing Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Schedule any Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs) with DISA, and submit CCIRs to the 93rd Signal Brigade Operations Center
- Coordinate ASIs with DISA and the Regional Cyber Center (RCC)
- Report system outage
- Manage, maintain, and support all layer 2 and 3 data switch devices that support the Serial to Internet Protocol (STI) system
- Perform circuit loopback, testing and monitoring, circuit re-route functions, diagnostic procedures
- Monitor/analyze/troubleshoot circuit outages using network management applications such as SPECTRUM, Splunk Dashboards, Juniper CTPView, logs, SecureCRT, Space Junos NMS, JDSU Bit Error Rate Test Set, Viavi TB6000AV2 Test sets
- Document outages using the Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) Remedy
- Monitor all ASIs daily for DoDIN circuits
- Document all network upgrades or configuration changes, telecommunication systems, telephones, and circuit trouble reports using the current ITSM/Remedy or replacement reporting software
- Troubleshoot, isolate and repair circuits and equipment
- Establish voice and data network circuits IAW guidance provided by DISA
- Maintain circuit action folders and keep them up to date with the latest Visio drawings, and DISA circuit order documentations to include; Technical Service Orders (TSO), Technical Service Requests (TSR), Status Acquisition Messages (SAM), Request for Use Reports (RFUR), Exception Reports, and In Effect Reports (IER) or any future replacement forms.
- Minimum Education: Associates Degree or 4 years’ Information Systems experience
- Minimum Experience: 3 years’ network and/or systems engineering/administration
- DoD 8570 Baseline Certification: Security+
- Experience with layer 2 and 3 data switches including those in the Joint Regional Security Stack (JRSS) construct
- Familiar with Wide Area Network (WAN) optimization concepts and testing,
- Proficient on: Internet Protocol (IP) fundamentals, Ethernet, Routing, VLAN, latency, throughput, Circuit-to-Packet, WAN optimization, and Class of Service concepts
- Familiar with circuit re-route functions, and a working knowledge on Windows OS and administration procedures in support of the STI system
- Experience supporting or assigned to the DoD and /or U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command.
- Has the communication skills to effectively interface with senior military officials, managers, and subordinates.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
