Led by the United Way of SWCO (UWSWC), Team UP AmeriCorps places AmeriCorps members at organizations throughout Southwest Colorado to focus on improving the lives of community members, from cradle to career. Team UP has been utilizing collective impact initiatives since 2015 to collaborate across sectors and promote communication towards common goals within rural communities. Team UP AmeriCorps members provide direct service to improve outcomes in Education, Economic Opportunity & Healthy Futures. Team UP AmeriCorps members serve directly at a non-profit, school, or government agency called their Host Site. Sites are located in Archuleta, La Plata, Montezuma, and Dolores counties. Members are placed at Host Sites based on their specific skills and interests, as well as their desired location of service. Anticipated Host Sites for the 2022-2023 program year include: Battle Rock Charter School, Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County, Cortez Public Library, Durango Adult Ed. Center, Montezuma Co. Dept. of Social Services, Dove Creek Duo, Early Childhood Council of La Plata, Four Corners Child Advocacy Center, Oak Tree Youth Resources, Pagosa Peak Open School, and The Juniper School. Member Duties : Team UP AmeriCorps offers a wide range of positions. After applying, members interview exclusively for their specific desired position(s) and are placed in the position that most closely aligns with their interests and experience. Positions include: Restorative Practices Coordinators (3), Outreach Specialists (2), Restorative Justice Coordinator, Youth Diversions Coordinator, Youth & Family Engagement Coordinators (2), School Readiness Coordinator, Prevention Coordinator, Community Education Coordinator, and Youth Supports Specialist. While members serve independently at their Host Site, the regional cohort of members gathers monthly for connection and training events. Both Full- and Part-Time positions are available.
