The Prince George's County Government Department of Social Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Team Lead, Homeless Youth and Young Adults Program position, grade G-24, within the Department of Social Services.

About the Position
This is a team lead position whereby the incumbent guides and oversees the County’s Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program and system of care for youth and young adults experiencing an episode of homelessness, provides support to the Continuum of Care Lead and serves as a member of the expanded leadership team.

Examples of Work

What You'll Do:


  • Plan and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the County's Continuum of Care (CoC) Youth Homelessness Response System (YHRS).
  • Evaluate and improve system flows as deemed necessary to improve outcomes and advance other related CoC goals and objectives
  • Establish and monitor the customer feedback process to ensure that the system is being operated in a way that respects and is responsive to the voice of youth with lived experience.
  • Assist with YHRS funding, including budgets, expenditures, variance, corrective actions, submission of accurate and timely financial reports, development of RFAs, and contract monitoring.
  • Lead the CoC's youth outreach and social media exposures and coordinate the CoC's annual Youth REACH and youth PIT counts.
  • Implement the CoC's Coordinated Community Plan and chair the CoC's YHRS stakeholder team.
  • Provide staff support to the CoC Youth Action Board.
  • Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties that may not be listed in the position description but are within the general, occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.

Qualifications

What You'll Need:


  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Business/Public Administration, Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field;
  • Plus two (2) years of responsible professional human services experience managing programs/activities serving youth and young adults.

An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be considered. EACH APPLICANT MUST INCLUDE INFORMATION THAT CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Business/Public Administration, Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field;
  • Plus three (3) or more years of responsible professional human services experience managing programs/activities serving youth and young adults.
  • Experience leading or working in a Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program and/or youth homelessness response system and Experience working in HMIS.
Preferred Experience with HMIS
  • Lived experience and/or in-depth knowledge of the challenges and barriers that youth and young adults experiencing homelessness face.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish / English
  • Experience serving LGBTQ youth

  • Ability to relate to providers with different levels of data systems use competencies; collecting and analyzing data; and leading staff/subordinates.
