The Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) teacher must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the mission and philosophy of the school. The teacher must be a born-again Christian with spiritual maturity in academic and leadership abilities that will enable him/her to teach God’s truth. The ability to communicate well with various types of people, handle confidential information appropriately, maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations are prerequisites.
Candidates should have a strong understanding of subject specific content and instructional strategies in addition to demonstrating well developed organizational and communication skills. Candidates should also have knowledge of recent research concerning learning and the brain and how to apply that knowledge in the classroom.

Essential duties and responsibilities include teaching all levels (6th, 7th, and 8th) of General Music classes. These classes are an introductory course that includes introduction to music theory, history, and performance. The teacher will also be responsible for teaching an elective choir and piano course. After school involvement includes assistance in the middle school musical theater and hosting choir performances.
- Instruct students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids, hands-on experiments and other materials to supplement presentations.
- Prepare course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
- Assign lessons and correct homework.
- Administer tests to evaluate student progress, record results, and issue reports to inform parents of progress.
- Keep attendance records.
- Maintain discipline in the classroom.
- Meet with parents to discuss student progress and issues.
- Actively participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
- Perform related duties such as sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations, assisting students in selecting course of study, and counseling for academic problems and/or adjustments.
- Provide collaborative support to teachers, staff, and parents.
- Proactive, with excellent critical thinking and communication skills.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail/accuracy, timely implementation, and quality performance.
- Consistently demonstrates impeccable honesty, integrity, discretion and sound judgment in all interactions.
- Meets high professional standards and dress.
