POSITION: Teacher Fellow – Various Campuses
REPORTS TO: Manager of Staffing
POSITION TYPE: 10-month
START DATE: Immediate
COMPENSATION: $55,000 annually

We serve the students of Houston, Texas, the 4th largest city across the United States. THE ROLE
- Reduce the lift on Principals and campus leaders to plan for high-impact leaves of absence
- To provide a more qualified option in place of a CSTN long-term guest teacher
- To ultimately reduce the impact on students and their achievement in the classroom of the teacher on leave
- Embedding with the staff and students at one or more YES Prep schools to quickly learn the cadence of a school day, build relationships within the community, and become a content area expert in preparation to dive into the classroom;
- Seamlessly transition into the role of a content teacher and fulfill all assigned duties and responsibilities including assigned duty schedule, lesson planning, student feedback, grading assignments, and attending professional development either individually or with a team;
- Maintaining excellent instruction for all students during prolonged teacher leaves to ensure that no instructional time is lost;
- Creating and customizing rigorous lessons in your specific content area to prepare students for college and beyond while bridging gaps for marginalized communities;
- Collaborating with teachers and content leaders within the system to ensure lessons are aligned and meet the specific needs for all students;
- Supporting teammates through opportunities such as small group remediation, tutoring, and grading;
- Setting ambitious goals with your students and working alongside them to encourage and ensure they achieve those goals through frequent and consistent feedback;
- Persisting in the face of challenges, learning from mistakes, and setting a strong example of character for your students;
- Growing professionally in your craft of teaching by both receive and giving feedback on a consistent basis;
- Building meaningful and long-lasting relationships with students, colleagues, and families;
- Working on a team of teachers and leaders to provide consistency, support, and accountability to all students;
- Conducting weekly tutorials outside of regular class day to provide additional instruction and support to students;
- Additional duties as assigned.
THE PERSON
- Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited four-year educational institution
- Belief in and commitment to the mission and core value of YES Prep Public Schools
- Ability to be assigned and travel to any YES Prep campus with 24–48-hour notice
- Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
- Demonstrated ability to work on a team
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and initiatives at once
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
- Ability to transition and adapt into new environments upon request
THE NICE TO HAVES
- Texas Educator Certification - There are several acceptable ways to meet this requirement, but to snag this role you must do one of the following:
- Hold a standard Texas Teaching Certification
- Hold a valid Teacher Certification in another state/country
- Be willing to enroll in a state-accredited Alternative Certification Program pursuing Certification to be considered for a full-time teaching position

- Compensation – This position is an exempt, salaried position; salary offers commensurate with experience.
- Health and Supplemental Insurance – A $0 monthly medical option that includes $600 towards a Health Savings Account, in addition to a variety of supplemental benefits including Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, etc. Employees must work 20+ hours a week to be eligible for a full spectrum of benefits, and 10 hours a week minimum for medical benefits.
Retirement Plans – Participation in Teacher Retirement System of Texas and a 457b Retirement Plan.
- Paid Time Off – Employees working 20+ hours a week receive 10 days of Paid Time Off in addition to the system closures during the Academic Calendar.
